A Final Run Saying good bye to the Dodge Viper ACR

He has his Gens kinda of mixed up, Gen 2/3 like commonly done. But its a new video to watch.

I don't understand why everyone always says that it's hot inside the viper. My A/C in my viper will freeze you when it's 100deg outside.

^^^^ I was thinking the same thing. My Corvette is way hotter (albeit its a 69) I find my car very comfortable.

His use of Gens is what SRT planned originally. The 2003 was referred to as Chapter 2 when it launched but the internet gen descriptions won.

There'll never be another car built like it.

My TA never gets hot. Is the ACR that bad? All these reviewers always bitch about that. Descent video though thanks for posting!

They have a "I am writing a Viper article" generator that writes half the story for them with the same complaints.

This, exactly. Let's see...cramped...check. Hot....check. Loud....check. Heavy clutch...check. Need I go on? Of course, none of these are true for the Gen 5.

It's definitely a tight cockpit and I can see the POV about being cramped - thats 100% true.

It's also hotter than most sports cars with a rear facing exhaust. There's a definite differential from leg to torso in temp

Sorry, but I couldn't hear squat about what he was saying for 8 min and 47 secs of a 9 minute 53 second clip

I think most writers who feel the car is hot and cramped are just plain scared of it. It's a pretty well known psychological/physiological response - when you're nervous and scared, you feel hot/sweaty and often claustrophobic.

It's all perspective, when you grew up with parents who drove a Honda Civic or a Toyota Camry and gave you time outs for looking at American cars or possibly wanting to eat pizza or a burger your perspective can be skewed. "Oh god I feel heat coming from that lump between the seats and the metal below the door almost burned my skinny jean laden legs. Why can't they make them like civics with front wheel drive. At least my face is protected by my overgrown beard and my Redwings protect my feet. Hey these are really cool cuz they are so retro, and I love my flying my drone....."

I am 5 10, 155, and fit runner's build. I can see, I guess, bigger folks might have a tight squeeze

Boy....a lot of negative responses. You guys are just focusing on anything bad you can pick out.

I think overall, the guy likes the car, gives a lot of positive feedback and the bottom line about these cars going away and being replaced by soul less hybrids, rings true

Clearly I'm being sarcastic, but and this is a big butt . I think so many of these reviews come from kids, yes I said it, that grew up in a numb vacuum. If you grew up in the sixties, a new ACR drives like a luxury car. If didn't you have no idea what hot, noisy, genuine vinyl seating that would give you 1st degree burns on the back of your leg when you were a kid on hot summer's day is really like. You had electric windows that would take your fingers off if you were dumb enough to leave them there. If you ever rode around in a VW bug you likely sucked up more hydrocarbons in the backseat then what spews out of the Vipers tailpipe. Ever sat in a MG midget or a Triumph spitfire? This video like so many others always has to state the same old cliché. The reason it's like all the rest, is because most people testing these cars don't get it. Why don't they get it, because the cars were designed for guys who weren't born yesterday. If you think the car is hot, noisy, uncomfortable, you fall in two categories both of which will get me in trouble here. That's why this absolute beast of perfection is going away, it wasn't made with that generation in mind.

The first words in this in car video, "Its' hot in here", sorry bud you lost me. Do you start a video about a .50 Cal whining about the noise. Secondly, really you can't even get the history of the car right, I mean, I realize that would take maybe one minute of time on this of any other Viper website.
The so called "enthusiast media" is really what doomed this car. I really give credit to those individuals at Chrysler that somehow in this world of pampered diapers have kept the torch burning. I salute you!!!

Just to be clear, if your young and your here, obviously this doesn't apply to you as you are an anomaly, congratulations!

We aren't in the 60s respectfully. That's not a knock on the viper but an irrelevant comparison, technology has advanced us to have refined performance that's rewarding and challenging.

The reviewer seemed to praise the car. However, idk what harness he speaks of, mine came with no harness

Compared to the 92 & 02 sitting next to the 17 in the garage, the 17 feels like a cushy luxury car to me.

Agreed with most in here. I am not hot inside mine at all. In fact, it's a lot cooler than my Zr1 was.

'It grabs you by your stupid hipster beard and makes you look at the road'...that is my new favorite quote!

Yep, lots of sports cars were pretty tight back in days that actually inspired the Viper. I never sat in an AC Cobra or a Daytona, but my Jag XKE and MG sure fit like a snug glove...and I feel right at home in the Viper!
