Accidental Purchase

I was getting my hair cut a couple weeks ago, and my barber mentioned that someone was thinking of selling their 1977 Corvette. Turns out the owner was my dentist, and he purchased this car in August 1977! To make a long story short, I'm now the owner of this Vette!

It is silver-blue with the smoke grey leather interior, 4-speed, a/c (important for my wife), p/w, luggage rack (nice throwback, not sure how practical it really is), and all of 41,111 miles on the clock. Everything works and no leaks, and the car is basically all original. Paint is original too but getting a little weak on the rear deck, otherwise it is very good.

Now the bad news is that it didn't have the L-82 engine, so it has the tame, 180HP, base 350 V8. The manual tranny makes it fun to drive though.

Gotta admit, I'm very excited about driving this car! It's no Viper, but it has its own disco-era charm.

Congrats. Looks like only about 5% were ordered with the optional 4-speed.

Thanks! The 4-speed is a great feature. It wouldn't be nearly as fun to drive with an auto.

Hell ya! I had '75 Stingray back in high school, and while it didn't have the 4 speed, or the 180 hp 350, swapped was a 396 & TH400, I still love the old Corvettes. Can't wait to see pics, a 1 owner 4 speed is a great purchase!

The plan will be to enter it into a National Corvette Restoration Society show in the Survivor class. This would give me a list of stuff to fix to make it very correct. Not that it needs much the way it is today.

^^^. I remember doing that on a friend's Chrysler wagon during high school. I think it had a 440, and surprisingly enough it felt faster by the seat of our pants. I'm sure a stopwatch may have proven us wrong, but we had fun regardless.

Thanks Jeremy! The punch list is short on this car (swap all fluids & remove factory clock and clean/oil/calibrate/reinstall) so it will be a fun cruiser. Stop on by and check it out sometime.
