[QUOTE=mak1118;288216]No bought a '16 convertible Z06 9/2015 after they turned down my $89k offer and told me I should buy a corvette instead... Figured I would just keep the Z06 and then trade it in for an '18 Viper but then it got discontinued so now I'm stuck with 2 '16s and a '95.

So I guess we have come full circle and now back to square one. If you actually own that 16 Viper then again, why oh why are you trying to beat up the price on any GEN V? that is beyond dumb

Another thing I dont understand is that some one insulted you by saying you should buy a corvette... so you go out and buy a corvette???

Never in the rain. Guess you didn't go to VOI in Indy, Orlando or Nashville .

Understand about the '16 now. Very early sale for that model year. BTW the dealer lost money on that car I expect. Not sure what the dealer cost for the lowest possible option car was but it had to be close to that.

I don't think anyone can prognosticate Viper sales prices in the future. But the annual down in the winter up in the spring is consistent year to year. With sales ending with a desirable model I would expect many that can buy a new one are doing just that. Only 4 more months of replacement sales to come ...

1--- I'm not trying to beat up on the car if that's what it seems like. I like to try and get the best price on anything a buy. When I buy a car I say to myself that money is gone, can I handle that, if the answer is yes then I buy it.

2-I was trying to decide if I wanted another viper or a Z06, was working with both dealers and that was the push... not necessarily because he said that but mainly because I wasn't going above $89k. I had just started reading this forum at the time and they were talking about problems with some of the engines so that is the main reason I didn't buy it when they offered it to me for $82k.

When I first bought it I lived in the Chicago area and could never drive it unless I was heading up near Wisconsin not to mention the weather, been in Arizona the last 14 years.

I was working with an out of state Viper dealer and was gong to trade my Z06 in for a '17GT, had to send pictures in. The salesman said he had 2 offers for my Z06 and one was $63k and one was $65k. I told him no way would I do that deal, the car is worth more. He came back with $72k, I still said no... he sends me an e-mail and says a higher offer came in, $74,685. So I should have just taken the first offer $63k and not held my ground where I finally got an offer from the same dealer mind you for $74,685. Was he worried about me?

First of all, thank you for bringing to my attention such a website exists--I was able to check all of my recalls and whether they had been performed.

Secondly, R29 means the driver side valve cover was replaced with a revised unit (fitted oem to the 2016+ cars) to stem off the oil consumption issues. R28 not complete meaning the dealer has not pulled off the oil filter and sent it off for analysis to SRT (to gauge whether the engine warrants replacement under warranty).

Well it appears that R28 wasn't even required on this particular car. The owner spoke to a dealer that said all recalls were completed, as well as R28 is not even listed on the mopar site for the VIN#. The car was purchased in late 2015, so is it possible that a later production car qualified for R29 but not R28?

On another note: If you want another cool site, replace the XXXXX with your vin# to get your window sticker. http://www.dodge.com/hostd/windowsti...f.do?vin=XXXXX

Everyone else: This is the site I used to check the recalls and status https://www.mopar.com/en-us/my-vehicle/recalls.html

Yes, definitely, r28 was not applied to all 2013 and 2014 cars. FCA did not announce any detail; but, I assume that it is related to when the suspect engine component was produced, or when the engine was built, and not related to when the car was assembled.

Therefore, this car most likely does not have the 10 year powertrain warranty extension. You should verify that with a dealer.

Would not having R28 mean that the engine does not carry the risk of failure that was associated with R28? As I understand it R29 was simply a valve cover change. The the car is still covered under the factory 5 year/100k warranty until 2020 being that it was purchased new in 2015. There's also a 4 year / 60k extended warranty available for purchase from dodge.

That car has to be the base SRT model, not a GTS...Right?
If it is a GTS it has to be a buy back or some story I'd think at that price.

Car is a GTS, I'm at 64k they are at 74.5k. I'm hoping we can meet in the middle somewhere which would put me around 70k.

Edit: Turns out he didn't want to haggle, so I'm back on the hunt!

If you're looking for a GTS at 70k, you may want to change your search to an SRT base model. GTS's haven't gone below 75k in months now. Generally selling closer to 80k. 75k is a great deal on a GTS.

Either you got one hell of a deal or you got a branded title because vipers just don't sell that low without being branded by anyone who doesn't have to get rid of it in a fire sale.

There is a lot of debate on this. I strongly feel that FCA has some rhyme and reason on issuing r28 to select cars. All vipers 2013-2015 got the R29 recall which was a consumption related issue(during aggressive turning) and was a simple valve cover change. Select vipers were issued r28 recall which is the oil contamination recall testing for metal shavings in your oil. Many people that passed r28 were still blowing motors so this is why I think FCA extended warranty to the r28 issued cars only vs those with just r29 issued. This leads me to believe that the r29 only issued cars are at less risk of motor issues. This data can perhaps be backed up by comparing the rate of failures for 2013-2014 r28 issued vipers to 2015-2017(of course newer cars won't have as many miles yet so need to make a fair comparison). Again, lots of debate around this. I chose to wait for a r29 issued only car with some miles on it to reduce the risk. I now have 10,200 miles and running very strong, 0 issues. The nice thing with r28 issued cars is you do get that extended warranty for free.

I have analyzed many 13 & 14 vin#, and all 2013 have the R28, and some 2014. I bought a new 14, and was told that it did not have the R28, because of production date. Mine was one of the late 2014 made 3/2014

No, it doesn't help in the least, unless you describe the circumstances of the sale. I have not seen a clean, no stories car for that kind of price on the retail market either by a dealer or private party.

That's a strange number...care to provide some additional details on the car?
