Working out a deal on a 13 GTS

Hey guys! I finally found a car but it's 1300 miles away at a dealer in North Dakota and I'm in Mississippi. What info should I be requesting? I've asked for the Window Sticker,10year warranty, and about R28 and R29. It was used by the owner of the dealership to go back and forth between stores and now it sits with roughly ~2k miles. I'm debating having the car shipped to me but I'm a bit worried having never seen it in person, I can request pictures but I'm still not sure. I would gladly drive it back but I'm not sure how the weather is between there and here. Thoughts?

I would recommend having a local member go check the car out for you in person and maybe even give it a drive. I would spend some money to have it inspected at a Dodge dealer and preferably an certified Viper Tech. Other than that, it sounds like you've got the rest covered pretty well. 2k miles is really low and it should be a nice car!

    Good luck!

Thanks! It's a dodge dealer but as with many the reviews for the service department are terrible, I'm not sure how I'd feel about them touching it to be honest. But I'd gladly send a few bucks a members way if they checked it out for me.

Don't trust the dealership on the condition of the car. Bottom line they will tell you what you want to hear to make the sale. Either fly out there and inspect it yourself or higher someone you trust to do the PPI.

You sound like you speak from experience or something

I looked at that car online before buying my car. Looks clean. Agree with the above, if you feel uncomfortable definitely get a 3rd party PPI. 100-200$ is worth it. Also the car was listed at one time for 75k so you should at least be able to get that.

    Good luck, keep us updated!

They wouldn't budge but looking at the market 77k still isn't bad is it?

I'm not sure how close to Biloxi you are, but I have a gen V and would be glad to show you some details about these cars and things to look for in person if you want.

To me, a good deal is what you're willing to pay and are comfortable with. If you love the car, 77k isn't bad. It had been priced at 75k before and had been on the market for what seems like forever. Definitely mention those things to them which will work in your favor and go from there.

It looks like a low mile, clean GTS with a good color combionstion. I don't think you would be disappointed either way.

I think 77k is fair given the cars mileage. You have a 100k powertrain warranty and depending on the in-service date (which you should request from the dealer), you may still have oem bumper-bumper left.

What is the color combination on the car?

And I would echo everyone's sentiments in regards to seeing the car in person (by yourself or someone you trust). You'd be surprised how far this little viper families claws extend. Tell us where the car is I guarantee someone in the area will be happy to look it over for you.

Ahh really? I've been looking at weather maps and they don't look bad unless I'm missing something.

Right, I don't want to overpay and I may have jumped the gun a bit as we've already come to an agreement. I've been watching these cars the past few weeks and it seems they are going as fast as they come. Every GTS below 80k I call about has been sold, one even the same day and it was higher mileage and price.

Don't feel bad about driving it as long as the weather forecast doesn't look too bad. Its a used car at this point and some miles wont hurt anything.

My recommendation: if you like the car and everything checks out, put a deposit on it and buy a plane ticket. Fly up there and check out the car in person. Best case scenario, you drive home a viper over a couple days. Worse case, you see it in person and decide its not the right car for you and your out <$1000 for round trip tickets. Thats way better than paying a shipping company the same $1000 without seeing it in person.

For what its worth, I purchased my car in Connecticut in January and drove it 800 miles home after flying up the night before. I have zero regrets.

Thanks for the input, this one is around 1450 miles away haha so a good drive but it's what I'm leaning towards. My main concern is the weather, it doesn't look like there's snow on the route back so that's good. Does anyone sell any sort of bumper protector that I could quickly put on for the trip back?

I lived in ND for five years. Weather can be a SOB. I agree with seeing the car first. If you do drive home I'd carry a gas can. Towns/city's are farther apart then we see in the south, up to 90 miles or so apart. Not bad once you get out of ND/SD. Weather/accidents on a two lane highway can be bad if not prepared. I'm guessing you would take 94 east to the 29 south. Kind of a boring drive too. Made that one when we moved to TN. Others have recommended Road Warrior for a temp clear bra, don't have any experience with it myself.

Yea 94E to 29S looks to be the quickest route. Will there be salt on the roads?

If any bad weather is forecasted/hits there will be salt or brine on the roads. Some counties have gone to using gravel mixed in too. Drive can handled with a little luck and planning.

Hmm Friday and Saturday it looks like my whole route will be clear of weather, that may be my best bet.

Found the window sticker as well. Hard to read but it's got the Laguna Interior Package, Track Pack, Car Cover, and 18 HK Speakers.

Just as an FYI, this was before the 15k price drop. Subtract $15k off that for an accurate "2017 MSRP".
