Gen II VIPER GTS Enthusiast Hoping to find the right FIRST Viper purchase

    Hi All,
Just registered on VOA site and looking forward to learning all I can about (preferably) GEN II Viper GTS's.

Welcome knowing about any reference books and GEN II Viper GTS's for sale (I've subscribed to the Classifieds forum -- no cars for sale at the moment it looks like).

Thanks for creating the club -- lots of passion, I can see that!

    Hey Cleridge 👋🏻

    Welcome!
Gen II GTS is a fine machine. I have a '98 GTS Silver/blue. I absolutely love my car.
I fished morning, noon, and night twice a day for 8 months before mine found me. Absolutely luuuuuuuv it!
Others will chime in with their opinions on what MY and model are great cars. They are ALLL great cars and ultimately, of course, it is your choice. Just be sure to get the one that your heart wants. Everyone seems to have "....the one that got away. " Be sure to not make your decision in haste.
All sorts of incredible knowledge here. These peeps are phenomenal people. You'll love it here, albeit, sometimes a wisecracking, smarty britches or two or three may show up, but no worries they are good guys too.

Look forward to pics of your purchase.

    Glad to have you.

    VIPERS RULE!!! 🤘🏻

    Hello From England

This website is a good place to start http://www.theviperregistry.com/build.php
It will give you production numbers, how to read a VIN Number (and what it means), there is also MDH (Month , Day. Hour) sticker found on the drivers door, also specifications , year by year.

Not sure just how green you are to Vipers but the Term RT/10 Refers to the removal roof car and GTS (Grand Touring Sport) refers to the fast back coupe.

The GTS Was introduced in 1996 and comes with a rear exit exhaust. The Alternator was moved to the right hand side of the engine on Gen II Vipers and instead of twin throttle cables (Gen 1 Cars) they introduced a single throttle cable with a connecting bar between the throttle bodys.
Early Gen II Vipers came with 17" Wheels then in 1999 the 18" wheel was introduced.
Various interior changes too, early Gen II Vipers came with a smooth black plastic dash then later they introduced a textured pattern on the dash.
1996 to 1999 came with Forged internals in the Engines, 2000 - 2002 Cam and Pistons changed.
    ABS Braking introduced in 2001
Red cars tend to be faster than others

Let the research begin If you do find a car, Check for recalls, get a Carfax and Im sure if you ask some local viper members to help you check out the car they will help.

Actually yellow ones are faster. It's a well known fact. And stripes add a little bit more too
