New owner and a dumb question

    Hello all,

I fulfilled a dream and purchased a 2015 GT late last fall. I searched for a long time before pulling the trigger.

I actually bought it sight unseen(over the internet, from a dealer) and before I had ever even driven a Viper. Let's talk about nerve wracking...LOL

The dealer(not a dodge dealer), provided me with an extra key, as it only had one, but the key does not seem to be programmed. So...is this something I can do myself or does this need done by a tech?

I tried to post a pic of the new toy, but I'm not computer savvy in any capacity. I guess I'll have to ask my 12yo to do it for me!!!

    Thank you for your replies

    Joe

I can't help you in this case though bein as my car is a GenII.

Not sure if the GEN5 is the same as the GEN4, but:

The procedure should be in the owners manual. At least it was when I had my Gen3.

I had a chance to look in my owners manual and it has instructions too on how to re-program a key fob. But again, this is a GenII
There should be something in the manual though.

    Hey Joe!

    Welcome to the forums!

Hopefully this helps you. Found it online...

The RKE transmitter may become “out of sync” and will no longer function if operated more than 255 times while out of range of the vehicle (23 ft or 7 m) or if operated while the vehicle battery is dead or discon- nected. To “synchronize” the RKE transmitter, cycle the ignition to the OFF position. Close the hood and all doors. Press both buttons on the RKE transmitter for about 10 seconds. The horn will chirp once to ac- knowledge the signal. Normal RKE transmitter opera- tion should resume.
