Dan Fitzgerald retired a few years ago. Has a home in Florida as well as his place on Winnipesaukee. Saw him at a car show in Manchester a couple of years ago. Talked to him by phone two years ago. He's enjoying his retirement. Dan was one of the largest Viper dealers in the 90's. He was personal friends with Carroll Shelby. I have his # if you need it.
I bought a RT10 Shelby limited editionn from Dan used to talk to him once or twice a year until I lost rack of him I would like to ask him a few question if you could share his phone # I would greatly appreciate it Thank you PMW
Still looking to reach Dan. If someone could PM the info or email me at pmw@blrco.net , that would be appreciated!
My dad and I bought a 1997 RT10 from Dan, He's a great guy. We live in Boston and would go up annually to have the car service and shoot the shit with Dan for the afternoon.
After Dan retired we brought the Viper up to Steve Heitz in Belmont who was a an excellent tech of Dan's.
I recently tried calling Steve and the number was disconnected, Does anybody know if Steve is still in business?
I was going to call up Dan to see if he knew, or if he knew of any other top-technician in the New England Area.
I need to obtain of certificate of authentication for my 1994 Dodge Viper RT10. Carroll Shelby is saying they can not help because they are not the recognized Manufacturer of Record. I contacted Dodge/Chrysler and they said they are unable to provide this due to it being a Special Edition. This Viper was purchased at Fitzgerald Dodge in New Hampshire. Can you please provide me contact details so we can try to get to the bottom of this? Thanks in advance!!
My 1998 GT2 #001 was modded by them in the day, I guess that one way to gauge how high up the food chain they were was that they got the #001 of the 100 GT2 cars back then, still one of the most collectible vipers ever!
The dealership is out of business. I heard that there was some hanky panky going on. I kind of assumed that he would have sold the dealership but instead it is closed down... just curious if anyone knew anything related to the loss of the dealership franchise.
Dan Fitzgerald sold his Dodge dealership a few years before they closed the doors. Fitzgerald Motors sports was always a separate business from the Dealership. Not sure why the Dodge dealership closed. May have been part of the Chrysler reduction during the Govt. infusion. Dan closed his business, Fitzgerald Motorsports when he retired.
Snkbyt is correct, Dan sold out the Dealership and the following owner was the one that went out of business. Appreciate BYT clearing that up so there are not a bunch of unfounded rumors about Dan and company.
Would love to see some photos of some of the modified cars done at Fitzgerald's shop... epecially the #1 98 gts-r
That sure looks correct, but as mentioned above, no longer in business. I have not talked to Dan in years , but last I knew he had moved to Florida.
Fitzgerald Motorsports in Laconia NH was always on my stop in list during Laconia Bike week . Enjoyed seeing what they had to offer !
And the Girls parading topless after midnight was also interesting....lol !

Here's my 2000 ACR originally modified by Fitzgerald Motor Sports. Note: the car is now modified and maintained by Dan Cragin.
In 2000 in received Fitzgerald's Snake 530 upgrade:
Engine
- TD R1.7 rockers
- Belanger Headers
- 3:54 gears
Body
- Painted Black Stripes (originally silver)
- Badge Delete Option
- ACR BBS wheels powder coated black

While having no definitive information for the original poster, I would suggest that he could gain some useful info by using the simple search on this site (as well as on the VCA site) with the keywords "Shelby Viper".
I liked Dan, visited him once, purchased 3 Vipers from him. I just don't know anything about the record keeping on these special cars. It would be great if that data could be found.
I happened to see a friend last Saturday who currently owns a Shelby Viper. I am sure he would also like more info.
Best of luck !!
