Smoked Lights on my GTS

I know there are some which don't like this, and will bring negativity(Dave6666), I don't care about your opinion, I really like the look.

I smoked out the rear and side marker lights.

I like the look, I did my tail lights a little lighter then yours. Can see some red but the turn signals and front markers are dark like yours. I left the headlights and fog lights alone. Ever since I turned 40 my eyes aren't what they once were. A good friend of mine is a body guy and did them with a tinted automotive clear coat so it's durable. I never heard of this process or method but he said he does them all the time for people so I said go for it. I'll post some pictures soon just waiting for some finishing touches.

Very nice, I'm looking forward to seeing it! I heard and read up on tinted spray and covered by clear after. This was just easier for me and something I could do at home in the garage, since weather isn't allowing the car to come out anytime soon.

Agreed! I've seen it on a blue/white GTS with black rims, and looks pretty good too.

One reason why I wanted to get it done, I thought it would really tie it all in together.

Love the contrast that the tint brings.

Just did mine with Plastic Dip for smoked light. The more you coat it the darker it gets. Very easy to use. Coated it with Plastic Dip Glossify to give it a bit of a shine. Turned out great.

It does look good with darkened lights. I dug this out of the "archives" - pics of my Gen 1, I think it is 17 years ago. Did my headlights, then later also did the fog lights. Pics of both. Since it impeded the light, it wasn't great for nighttime driving, so I did have another set of fog light lenses that were clear that I'd use on occasion since the fog lights did a good enough job of illuminating the road.

I did film initially, but had issues with fade and at the time it was hard not to get the edges to wrinkle around the back part of the light and the fog light (products have come a long way now though). But I eventually went with a spray. I had put strobes in the lights and while I was there I figured I'd go for it. The spray wasn't bad, it provided an even coat and covered every speck of white so that when the lights were on, you didn't see and film overlap or gaps. The darkness you wanted was controlled by the coats. I think I did 3, from a distance the lights looked black, when you stood right in front of it you could still see the lights slightly. I don't recall the product, but it was specifically designed for smoking the headlights.

Looks great!!! I thought of doing the spray, but going to see how these hold up, and if there are any issues then I will try that next.

love those aftermarket rims.

another idea, which i used, was i prayed thin coats of black plastidip. looks great, but does not have a gloss finish. However, it is reversible as the rubber peals off.

Thank you, ya those GenV Sidewinder II's really look great on my GTS.

That's a good idea as well. I wanted the gloss the look, so opted for the tint over paint, in case I had a change of heart I could just take it off.
