As other said, passing r28 may not tell the whole story. I opted to find one with just r29 issued as IMO, it's lower risk since it's out of the range of possible oil contamination. Monitor oil levels at every fuel stop and you should be fine + you have warranty if you stay stock.
I Just crossed 10k on my TA and running strong with no signs of burning oil. Don't let some posts here scare you. I was spooked a bit but this car has been the best car I've ever owned by a landslide. Here is a review I made of my TA in case it helps you: https://youtu.be/EzHRAkQWFTM

Didn't mean for that to come across as I was out, although it looked that way. I am trying to join the dodge family though. My daily driver/weekend warrior pair are always of the same brand and I've had ford and currently have chevy so dodge is the only Company I haven't experienced of the big 3. A viper has always been a dream of mine, but until recently it was unreachable so the timing has lined up perfectly.

Only select ones do. If the car had R28 issued, then it does have the extended warranty(10year/100k). However, if the car was only issued R29(oil consumption) it does not have the extended warranty. You can purchase the extended warranty for under 2 Grand which will give you 7 years/100k. I strongly believe there is a reason FCA only extended warranty on the R28 cars - They are at higher risk due to the "possible" oil contamination but even then, many R28 issued cars are running just fine with no problems. Many people will debate this topic and it can go on and on. There is an abnormally high rate of failures of these Gen 5's, but the large majority of them are just fine and have logged many trouble free miles. Find the right car for you, get it checked out, and enjoy it!
I bought my 2014 new and it came with a std 100,000 mile powertrain warrenty. I believe when viper went back to dodge in 2015 it got reduced to 60mo/60,000 mile..

I plan on it..![]()
Yeah, I recognize most of the viper pictures from that site as stolen from ebay ads.
There was a similar listing about a month or so back advertising Vipers along with other high-end vehicles for about 50% of market resale value, it has to be a scam of some type.
I'll bet if you call and actually get a hold of someone they'll say they have 10 other buyers that are interested and for a deposit of $$$ you can secure it as your own. Of course they tell that and collect a deposit from the 10 other suckers as well, then just disappear.
You know what they say, there's one born every minute..
