    Side Sill Paint

Is it normal for some of the black paint on my Side Sills to be flaking off where the exhaust exits? I picked up a 2016 ACR-E earlier this week...seems perfect so far, but am wondering if I need to bring this in as a warranty issue or most of these cars have this same issue?

Pictures? Was it new or could it have aftermarket cat back?

it was used but its a factory exhaust. The exhaust does not look centered and looks like the exit gasses go over the side sill. Guess its a warranty claim.

Maybe someone put the factory exhaust back on to sell it?

Possible but from the look of it, the factory exhaust isnt centered and that is the culprit?

Definitely, that is the culprit. But, I'm wondering why the factory exhaust is so badly misaligned.

It could definitely be that it came that way from the factory, but it could also be that it has rotated because someone did not tighten up the exhaust clamp after re-mounting their stock exhaust (and maybe selling their cat-back separately, not an uncommon occurrance).

that does not even remotely look like the correct tip and is missing the surround unless an ACR is different. I am mistaken, from other pics that looks correct.

Here is a pic of my 17 ACR. Exhaust tip is centered in the middle and the bottom tip is actually 1/8" or so past the outer black rim. Looks like your's is recessed inside the black molding and definitely not centered.

My car is completely stock and my exhaust has moved. I had it in for service and they realigned the exhaust tip. Movement is normal from what I have seen.

I can tell you it is from your exhaust clamps not holding the muffler in the correct location. After 2 attempts with different clamps and bands I welded the entire exhaust from the collector flange back. The owner before you had a different system installed and changed it back to stock to sell.

That scaled flaking of the paint under hi temps is terrible! Seems like another Doug Shelby product opportunity here. Something that can either mount around the end of the pipe to keep proper clearance of the exit hole, or something that can attach to the body at the exit opening and at least withstand the heat with a more durable and better looking appearance. I'll have to take a look and see what they do for the racecars.
