New Viper Owner from Apex NC 2006 Roadster

    Hey Fellow VOA Members!

Patrick McCoy here from Apex, NC. Just picked up my pristine condition 10,600 mile 2006 Red Viper SRT10 Roadster about a week ago. Became a VOA Mamba member that same evening and looking forward to being part of the community with you all.

Thanks in advance for answering any questions I post as I get to learn more about the Viper culture and the beast-of-a-car itself! Attached are some photos. Any tips or advice for me for my 2006 convertible? Things to look out for? The previous owner took very good care of the car.

Welcome. As a previous Gen 3 owner myself, this Gen seems to get the least love, but they are great cars. Just the usual stuff to look for:

    1. Oil cooler lines - they will seep. Look for a spot on the garage floor.
    2. Window regulators
    3. Rear diff - the limited slip in these units can fail eventually, many people eventually replace with stronger aftermarket

All that being said, these are good reliable cars, fast, and powerful. Get new rubber on there as well. Old tires + 510 hp = bad news.

Congrats and welcome to the greatest car club on the planet! You'll thoroughly enjoy your car and the people! What a beaut by the way but I'm partial to red!

My one recommendation to all roadster owners is to put a roll bar in. Those stupid hoops are nothing more than hollow aluminum "coke cans". You can roll over on the street as easily as you can on the track. Both of my roadsters have roll bars and I had them custom painted to match the cars and they look great.

Thanks for all your kinds words and tips. Rollbar. Tires. Rear diff. Check for oil. All duly noted. Really appreciate it and will keep reading more about the Gen III and asking questions. Be safe out there, everyone!
