As others have mentioned, I now "know" someone more anal than me when it comes to cars. I considered my Viper totalled when I got my first rock chip, but this is something else.
Malodets braat, true passion right here.
Made some headway over mothers day weekend.
Calipers fully masked and going for powder;
Yellow has one of the lowest transfer efficiencies of any powders so it had to be coated twice;
Checking on the bananas in the oven with a FLIR to make sure they're heated throughout.
Rears getting clear coated, while the fronts have to get the decals before the clear is layed down;
With the caliper bodies in final bake-out I tackled the X-brace and hardware.
Media blasting the hardware;
Completed and ready for cerakote;
Since the brace is too large to fit in the blasting hood, I had to hand sand the whole shebang. Of course I did the underneath as well, I couldn't live with myself otherwise
Prepped for powder;
Look what come out of the oven;
While the calipers cooled, all the caliper hardware (bolts, hard-lines, bleeders) were painted and baked out.
Time for re-assembly. All of the pad pins, bolts, washers, and guides had come out of the shakers and looked freshly polished.
Pad guides on first, with a dab of loctite for the bolts;
Then assembled the pistons, boots, and seals by size and location so there was no confusion during re-assembly. Pistons were lubed, seals dropped in, and boots followed;
A little elbow grease, and the first one's complete;
Really really pleased with how they came out;
Calipers got 2 coats of Cquartz, 2 more bake-outs to cure, and were re-installed on the snake;
Just need to bleed the brakes, and ceramic coat the wheels and we can get the car down on the ground;
Awesome work as usual!!
Omg put the wheels on and drive it already i'm dying inside...slowly
Putting those pistons back together...wow. That's a lot of parts. I agree - get that thing together and drive it!.
I keep my vehicles reasonably detailed - except the Viper's wheels - they only get really detailed for Carlisle. The rest of the year - eh....the brake dust blends in....!
This thread keeps getting better every day. I really like the yellow calipers.
Not every day that your car actually matches the lift it is sitting on

I love the contrast between the yellow calipers and blue paint, makes the viper pop even more.
Man, that's almost to pretty to drive......almost!
Looks great!
Thanks guys, fingers crossed Curt wont be too tied up at the shop later today and helps me bleed the brakes. Hoping to drive it tonight.
Good lord man that looks amazing!!!
WOW! nice lots of work but looks good! Did you consider doing the parking brake?
looks awesome!
i'm assuming the valve cover... covers.. were not painted blue from the factory?
Nope. Why would I want to attract attention to the parking brake?
They are red from the factory. These were color matched GTS blue to the car.

We made a little progress yesterday and got the wheels ceramic coated and baked out. These wheels are the biggest pain in the ass to clean, so this was extremely welcome.
Watch this and you'll see why ceramic coatings are highly appreciated on wheels;

Looking good!!!!, let me know if there's some rubbing with the spacers and lowering caps together, I put lowering caps on mine last week and have some rubbing on bumps in the rear(tire/fender)
I've wondered if this is worth it. They are definitely a pain to keep clean. I'm interested to hear if pressure washing those puppies is enough to clean them .... or if they still require a little soap/water/scrubbing. If you say pressure washing is enough to pass your standards .... mine are getting coated immediately.
