Scammed need to clear my name

Hey everyone, I was hacked just like other members. I was just trying to buy new wheels, I clicked the link supplied and ... scammed. They took my info or ever these wastes of human flesh do and made me the bad guy. I check the forum 6-7 times a day and then all of a sudden... can't log-in. I need to clear my name of any of these links. I was NOT selling ANYTHING. I would never do that to anyone here or elsewhere.

Scamming, AKA greed, is one of the 7 deadly sins. Try to feel comfort that someday, somewhere, somehow these jerks will find their comeuppance

We also had a few other members who's accounts got taken over... I just now finished cleaning this mess up.

The VOA will be making a statement, and also clearing up some points about how not to get scammed. We work really hard here behind the scenes to make sure we can reach out to new registered members... Sometimes we get complaints that we are too strict by needing to know real world info...

In this case this week, having that info stopped this from going further than it did.

Viper98 is correct that he wasn't selling Viper parts... someone took over his account.

It's a sign of the times unfortunately, being in the industry I see a lot of it. Viper98 was a victim, along with a few others.

It's important to know that these actually aren't hacks, but instead socially engineered strategies. It's just easier to fool people than to spend time hacking, so they find ways to trick you into simply providing the information. And they do it because it works.

Be weary of the links you click, and if you click anything that's asking you for personal information or passwords - don't provide it. In cases like these, where it says that your VOA credentials will work there - don't believe it. The VOA doesn't share or provide credentials, contact info, or anything - to others. They are merely fishing (technically phishing) to gather your login info so they can then use them to do bad things.

Obviously this is something that's been around for a while with credit cards, banking, etc... but they've hit a new low trolling to fool car club enthusiasts!
