Looking into getting a Viper TA

Hello all!! I'm a noob to vipers, but i'm looking to change that very soon. I'm from Wisconsin, and looking into getting a Viper TA, and I don't really mind what color it is, but I thought this would be the best place to get information and feedback by real viper owners. I've been reading a lot lately, and i found there to be some recalls on the 2013-2014 vipers. I found a nice clean low mileage White TA in Wisconsin and it seems to have all the Recalls dealt with already, but it was a 2 owner car with only 27xx miles on it. Does anyone have anymore information on it as far as whats a fair price/recalls i dont know about/etc? and If you guys know of any other Viper TA for sale, let me know!! Really looking into getting one this summer.

    Thanks!!

Well Kangaroo, you might want to go to www.woodhouse.com , plug in C170129 under stock number , and check out a brand new, 2017 TA 2.0 Option Group car in a unique color and just a bit over 110K --- three years newer , no recalls, no miles , for about 20K more. Last year made and very unlikely you will see another one like this as the color was only recently approved for general usage ( before had only been available on a the Ceramic Blue Package ).

Kangaroo, listen to Bill! This sounds like a nice car.

Many of us here bought our cars from him. Can't go wrong. At least give him a call!

I'm pretty sure that car was owned by a forum member. I believe it had an Arrow controller at some point, so I would check with the dealer on the warranty to make sure you don't have any issues. Either that, or just go with the new TA 2.0 that Bill has as that is a one of a kind bad ass car and it's brand new. For $20K more you get new car, full warranty and seats that weren't farted in by someone else. That alone has to be worth like $100K.Lol.

If almost $90k is the going price for a White TA with that mileage then their value has gone up a bit over winter

It's consistent with the asking price on used TA's at Viper Exchange..

There is a rumor going around that some dealers advertise their cars at a number price is higher than they will actually sell it for.

Would love a new Viper! But I'm not looking to spend over $100k. Really not even $90k. haha. It will be a used car no matter what unfortunately or fortunately. I'm also not a big fan of the ugly wing (in my opinion) on the TA 2.0, But I love the look of the Gen V ACR, but can't swing that price just yet.

Realistically, how much do you guys think this White TA is worth? And is there anyway to get extended warranty on a 2014 TA? That would be a PLus plus plus!

Call Bill to determine warranty status and extended warranty eligibility of that car by VIN.

It just comes down to what it's worth to you. If white w/o the fin and a TA is it, then pull the trigger brotha. Not a combo that is listed for sale very frequently. As the production comes to a close, my thoughts are the value will likely stay $80-90K For TA's... who knows though really right! That 2.0 that Bill has is sick!!!!... i'd LOVE it, but my wife said "no way ricer" haha.

I think it was $82K when it was listed on here for sale. I'm pretty sure they took it on trade recently.

You should definitely personally inspect whatever TA you consider. With under 3000 miles on it this is as close to a new TA as you're apt to find, and if it's in pristine condition then that is a very fair asking price. The dealer may expect to sell it for a bit less. Whether it's $86k or $89k really won't matter much in the end if you find a TA that you love and have confidence in. Be great to know about the history of the car. There's a TA thread here somewhere that listed forum members that owned the original 159 2014 TA's. Extremely rare and collectible numbered car. Looks absolutely amazing in white...and not bad in black or orange either

    Good luck with your search!

    Bruce

Roanoke sold a white TA with about the same mileage for mid 80s last fall. If you can settle on a price around there I think that's fair.

I've got a 2016 TA2 black with 2700 miles I'm thinking of selling so I can get an ACR-E. PM me if interested...

It's a great car, just thinking of something wilder...

You will love the TA! I've had mine almost a year now and love it more and more every time I take her out. I don't use it for what it's built for - I'm sure the track rats here have a total different kind of appreciation of its capabilities. $80-$90k is what a clean, no stories TA typically would go for. If you can get it around $80-$85k I'd jump on it quick! With production stopped I think they will hold value very well. They only made 33 in white and 33 in black so you will have a very special machine. Here is the TA thread Bruce referred to so you can do some more research:

    Good luck!

Being the fact that I have been following the values of these cars for a while now, a sub 3,000 mile TA is averaging $82-$85K. Know for a fact that a couple pristine ones, one with under 2,000 miles, have sold in this price range within the past couple months. Be patient, but also explore explore explore. You will find a deal. The one you have mentioned would be a good deal at $85K or under. Good luck!

The TA is a great choice. Is there specific reasons you want this model? The reason I ask is because there are so many models and options even owners of ta cars didn't always know all the intricacies within the same model.

If you primarily like the aero you could always get an srt model with aero and the track pack package for a fair amount cheaper. While the track pack brakes aren't the same, they are very good.

I think the TA is great if you want the specific setup, (aero, brakes, orange stitching, limited production, etc). If it's mostly aesthetic or bang for your buck I'd look at a unique srt or GTS model imo.

I am not up on very current pricing but since you like any of the colors I think white may be able to be bought at the best value. However given that both white and black are very limited in production compared to Orange, I think in time their value may increase as supply dwindles so I wouldn't fret around a few grand if it means you get a perfect example and can enjoy it now. I do agree with the above that 85k for a dealer car is a good price to aim for. Again these are definitely great vipers, as are all vipers, and good luck with your search.

    Here here!
N' if you're truly giving this car a hard look, it's obviously worth something close to the currently known price points .

We are the "Enthusiasts" and it's up to us to bolster the perceived value of all Vipers.
(sorry that was deep, still having coffee early in a.m.)

p.s. ALL TA's are bad ass.

If you want a car for light track duty - Get it!
If you want a Viper for a short amount of time - Get it!
If you care for a unique package - Get it!

Otherwise, you can find a cheaper car in more color options that will feel the same to you. No point in spending the TA premium if you wont value the extras that you get. I wanted the TA for the performance setup you get with it ie. brakes, suspension, aero. The extra carbon, interior, and stickers are just for fun, expensive, but fun nevertheless. It was an expensive package to add on, and some would argue it's actual performance edge because there are cheaper aftermarket options you can add-on to an SRT. However, it is special to me!

All Vipers are beast. All have the 8.4L V10, all have a sweet Tremec 6spd, all have tons of carbon (hood, roof, trunk), so you really cant go wrong.

Good luck! I was ready to pay 80-85K for a 2014 TA since I was looking for Black and had to likely put up another 2K to get it shipped to me (since everything at the time was either in Texas or Cali and I am in Detroit). I offered 83K to a seller and was turned down. After that I seriously considered spending so much money on a used car when brand new Vipers were available for 90K.

You still have Vipers incoming and on the lot that are available so weigh out your options. Cant go wrong either way.

And if you want one for heavy track day duty there's no high powered production car that is more durable than the TA and ACR. Never overheats. I've found consumable replacements to be relatively infrequent and low cost on my TA. Track buddies can't believe how it runs out front and doesn't wear brakes and tires a lot faster.

hey kangaroo... im selliing my 2.0!! building an ACR now.. brand new 1500k miles!! pm me...

That's the second person offering their TA2.0 and I believe the OP already stated that while they love the way the ACRE looks, the aero for the TA2.0 doesn't look right to him (ugly in his words) so I can safely say he is not likely interested.

A true testament to Viper reliability, 1.5 million miles on that example, incredible!
