Last year Fiat Chrysler revealed that 2017 would be the final model year for its legendary Dodge Viper sportscar. Not surprisingly, this sparked an influx of orders from both dealerships and consumers looking to get their hands on the final Viper examples to leave the Conner Avenue Assembly Plant in Detroit, but the order books have now closed - FCA has now sold out of Vipers for the 2017 model year.
Dodge last year unveiled five special edition Vipers based on the 2017 model year of the sportscar. Those models sold out in time periods ranging from just 40 minutes to five days, prompting Dodge to add a sixth special edition Viper, the Snakeskin Edition GTC, which is also now sold out. That doesn’t mean you can’t get one as there’s plenty of 2017 Vipers sitting on Dodge lots across the country, but if you wanted to build your own unique Viper using Dodge’s 1 of 1 program then you’ve sadly missed your chance.
While there has been some discussion of a future Viper, there are no plans. For now the Viper is gone. So long to a game changing car, an attitude, and an American icon.
