Decided not to collect mine sooooooo
Decided not to collect mine sooooooo
Who cares if it's collectible or not - it looks almost as nice as my car and that's a good thing!
No it's not my first viper. yes, I know there are other 1 of 1 vipers floating around and it's unlikely there are more than I know because I have been in vipers for quite some time now. You have your view; I have mine. The reality is that the only car that has raised in value from the sticker price is the Gen 2 GTSR since the time vipers were made so calling anything collectible at this point is really stretching the meaning of that word. And the reason the GTSRs went up in value (and just recently might I add did they ever surpass the sticker price), was because they actually did something that couldn't be done on any other viper. They had unique suspension and performance and aero parts that no other viper received. These 10 Woodhouse vipers are just well thought out cars and it's hard to talk bad about them because I really think they are great cars so I'm trying to say this in a way that doesn't make the cars look bad. Anyone could have chosen the options that Woodhouse made, many did choose the color in fact. I've seen some for sale in the past 2 years with a custom color to match TA orange. Perhaps some even chose the interior and steel brakes---there are hundreds of 1 of 1s out there so you just don't know. Most did NOT choose these options for obvious reasons. The savings to downgrade to steel brakes or from ACR to TA interior were very minimal, so why not just select the CCBs and ACR interior.
I think the real value of a 1 of 1 is there for the one that had it built. While there were plenty of 1 of 1's over the years before the actual program was put into place, those cars were not special orders to the extent that the current 1 of 1 program offers.
That said, the person that creates a certain look/feel/performance package will ultimately be the one appreciating it the most. The builds certainly are unique, but that doesn't mean that they will be valuable since some of these creations are a bit 'to special' and may not appeal to many. Taste cant be argued and while some owners may think their machine is going to get big money down the road simply because they went over the top when ordering it, could be in for a surprise
I wanted a 1 of 1 because of the build experience. To be able to actually control how 'my' car will be put together and not only that....but get step by step updates from the factory as the cars is coming together. This experience may never become available again unless you are considering cars that cost a whole lot more than the Viper. So to me, that's the big value and this car will always be the one I created.....regardless of the the actual $$ value years from now
The Woodhouse team created something based on their customer feedback and experience. This is what is so cool about this car and why I think they sold out in a heartbeat. They could have made 20 or 30 and I don't believe any would be available today. These cars will definitely turn some heads and stand out in a crowd
I am sure this 1 of 1 versus special editions argument will continue well past the factory doors closing and it will be heated battles for sure
I will also say this......I can always buy a special edition later on, there will be plenty available, but I will most definitely never be able to build my own Viper again

I think the cause of the on-going debates and disappointment in numerous threads about the various factory and dealer "specials" is that each one is really just different combinations of colors and features, which for the most part is what the 1 of 1 program was. That doesn't make them any more special to many. Where the 1 of 1 program allowed a buyer to create what that one person wanted, the "specials" targeted those who saw appeal and value in buying what the factory or the dealer thought was a good combination, and produced numerous copies of. That made them a "limited edition", and everybody knows a limited edition is somehow more valuable and collectible, right?
But those factory and dealer combos were also trying to satisfy the insatiable desire for those who wanted what they thought the market would perceive to be the most desirable of the desirables, the one that would satisfy their needs to own a "special", and one they expect the future market to value above most others. Well, there's an awful lot of limited edition "specials" relative to every other Viper which is also special, so I just hope whichever special one you bought is the one that was genuinely special to you
I have a feeling that the ones that will do best in value over the years will be the specials that have distinct features not available on any other build, and the SSG factory ACR and GTC specials with the scales in the stripe and this ACR/TA certainly come to mind. When a prospective buyer sees that dual designation on the ACR/TA, and then learns of the merging of two highly successful record setting track versions, it'll be money in the bank. Bet many wish they had been the one to think of it...just fricking brilliant!

1:28's stand for something incredible, let's face it. GTS-R commemorates greatness too but imo they made too many. The Voodoo II again, has awesome historical significance. For me, a tribute to America with ACR-E status was the most epic snake of all time. I could've had a one of one or any of the special editions of my choice when i ordered on 6/24 and no regrets on how I came down on it. The TA/ACR wasn't in the equation at decision time to be fair but now seeing it I'm confident that I wouldn't swap mine for it in a million years. No disrespect to the car or to the new owners. It's a fun idea but the hybrid draws on two different models and in the end is neither one. Has an identity crisis imo and I don't like how the stickers illustrate. I hope all owners enjoy their choices to the fullest and for reasons of their own. If I had the space and could justify the spending I'd have another special edition in my garage. I find myself eying the 1:28 and the SSG ACR at Roanoke online quite a bit.
Trump and Putin are more American than u think....gonna turn isis into waswas...awe snap..
U should grab one of the SSG V's that are left. Would compliment your car very nicely. No scratch?
This was something I opted for on mine as well. Woodhouse has done this on many cars with multiple combinations, I've seen them do X braces with stripes to mimic the car or two colors along with the solid. Figured I could always add the carbon brace or coil covers later if I wanted. As Bill P said, the carbon brace isn't as rigid and if you get it from the factory you don't get to keep both braces and have to pay tax on the option, buy it after the fact and you have 2 braces and it is cheaper at the end of the day.

But in the meantime, George is going to drive the hell out if his, all over the Tracks across the US. Then sell it down the road for probably as much or more than he paid new. Way to go George, congratulations! Can't wait to see it in person. Woodhouse is awesome. Extended an amazing gesture opportunity to me that I had to turn down due to timing.
The best to all of you ordering new, exactly the way you want. Timing not working out (opportunity gone) for a new order for me. Timing issues with finalizing sale of my wireless communications company and starting/part owning another new US operations for another company in new couple of months, unfortunately just not meant to be. Such is life! Between little kids, wife and life, can't even find the time to drive the old ones in the garage anyway. Will be used market or a left over new when the timing does work out. No chicken egg counting!
Commandomatt and Bruce make great points.
I intended to add some additional points discussing future value, but my response became so long that I decided it needed its own thread so as not to detract from the OP's here.
hey George! yea.. pretty damn excited.. hard ot believe that ANYONE (hint hint on thread) could bash this car as not being a collectable in the near future.. its a home run any way you look at it and wisely thought out by the boys. ok.. so im def gonna get xbrace painted, valve covers.. wht is paint correction and c quartz? planning on xpel or 3m (not sure which is better and alos have a wrap guy down here who di my company truck wrap (think he just uses 3m though). how much xtra are those? prob questions can ask Bill when get closer. ok others: tow hooks hmm?; catch cans- tell me a little more? 18spk.. definitely (high priority) and as mine prob wont be completed until April thinking woodlouse could do this and is it simply adding 6 speakers in those areas( im wondering why this option was eliminated by factory? how does 12 speaker sound to u? similar to TA 2.0? Stainless lines.. is this and option . .im not even sure idf my 2.0 has those? lol.. .sorry for all the questions man but would love to have everything done bf shipped out.. btw if u know anyone interested in my 2.0 let me know.. sweet deal)) best and congrats again!!

Ok, the cars often come from the factory with swirl marks in the paint. Mark J. told me once he thinks it may be from the shipper wiping the car down with a dry cloth. Paint correction fixes all that and makes the paint look like a mirror. CQuartz is one brand of ceramic coating. It protects the paint better than wax and lasts years. It allows you to wash dirt off with a hose and in fact dirt doesn't even stick so much. I would use Xpel not 3M. 3M while thicker and maybe better on the rockers does not have the clarity in my opinion and it is a real pain to get off if you ever need to fix an area. The Xpel is clearer. Mark has them paint correct the car then CQuartz it then apply the Clear bra and then CQuartz over the clear bra.
The stainless steel brake lines were added by Mark and improve pedal feel a little and are good if you track your car as they don't expand when hot. Catch cans from Doug Shelby Engineering (Mark can supply them) catch oil that might otherwise get into the intake. Oil has an octane rating of about 50 so besides messing up the intake it can reduce actual octane the engine sees. I had Mark move the 18 speaker upgrade from my old TA to the new car. I had added the 18 speakers to the TA when new so I can't tell you how much of a difference there is. I would make sure Mark orders the speaker upgrade kit as soon as it becomes available again (I'm told mid-March) as it will likely sell out quickly.
The paint is 2014 TA Header Orange not something close. All cars that were painted a non-stock color for the specific model year received the "Special Paint" designation on the window sticker. So if you painted a 2017 in a color from any other year you would still see "Custom Paint" on the window sticker. One of the things that I think Bill at Woodhouse had to do was get SRT to agree to build 10 cars that were actually identical under the GTC program. Remember the 1 of 1 program was meant to make every car unique. These 10 are built under the 1 of 1 program but in fact are identical so I would say they are more akin to other factory special additions than someone's 1 of 1. Its one of the things that will make the history of these cars interesting down the road - how they came to be in the first place.
lol
Amerikanskiy klub Racer
Because when someone with a 1 of 1 with your paint scheme orders the same color with a different set of wheels it's considered another one of one. Change the interior, same situation. Doesn't seem so "special" anymore huh? PS the has been Gen 4 threads are in another section....
And that's the game
