    Part number or where to find these washers

    Anyone know where I can pick up a couple of these knurled washers? They are located on the front upper control arm on the inner part of the bushing. Looked online and only see a part number for the upper control arm as a complete assembly. One exploded into oblivion when pressing the old bushings out doing my poly bushing install (which is a pain in the ass job by the way).

    They are called Nord-Lock washers. Try McMaster Carr .They are a lot cheaper than most online!

    To answer your original inquiry...this MAY be the part as taken from a 2000 Viper parts manual:

    04014175...described as "Washer, Control Arm Pivot .627x1.30x089, Upper"

    Since I have not verified this at a Dodge dealer parts desk...suggest that you cross check info.

    Thanks for the quick replies gentlemen! Thankfully it looks like I may have jumped the gun and the new setup disregard these washers. They aren't a "two-piece" design like the nord lock washers but just a standard washer with a knurl on the inner diameter area on both sides.

    Here is what I am tackling!


    Where it says "OE washer provides surface to press out shell" that is the washer that went kaboom. I guess they expect it to be toast with this bushing kit as it says to disregard it lol.

    Good to hear. I hope everything is going smoothly for the install. I hope you got a press to otherwise I'm betting your hands hurt about now ;-) Did my 04 Cobra's rear without the press and went and bought one for the front. Rear took 2 days while the front took hours.

    Yeah I picked up a 12-ton H frame for $90 from harbor freight. I honestly cant imagine trying to do these in the car with a C-Clamp style press. These suckers are in there good!!!

    I went to my bolt bin and found a standard flat washer that was identical OD, but needed a little reaming to the ID and installed them in place of the fragmented originals.

    Dean do you have the Energy Suspension kit on your car or did you go with a different kit?

    If you had the Energy Suspension kit did you have any issues with the "end washers" that press into the sleeves? Running into some quality issues with the batch I have right now and Energy Suspension is sending me out new ones...

    So far I can tell you the job is a pain in the ass. It's not hard but it is pretty extensive and having to run around and find the correct sockets or cups or extensions to be able to press and support the bushings took awhile. My video will expedite that nonsense for anyone looking to tackle this as I demonstrate which size sockets I found work and what extensions I used to press the old bushings out.

    Because this is obviously a low volume kit for Energy Suspension I have ran into a couple hopefully minor issues so far. My kit was missing upper control are bushings for some reason but they were quick to send them out. Then as I was completing the first and only corner of the car so far (front drivers side) the end washers they supply kept shattering every time I try to press it into the sleeve. They are sending me out 8 new washers so hopefully it was just a bad batch but its delaying my install.

    Why not just use OEM bushings? Were your stock bushings really that bad. I know rubber tends to form micro cracks on the outside, but my experience with Energy bushings on other applications left me thinking why I ever switched from fresh OEM parts.

    Dude! Don't you know??? All factory engineered OEM parts are JUNK and that anything else you can throw at the car is an UPGRADE!

    Bloody Hell, there must be some pressure on those washers for that collar to twist off!

    What does concern me is that those Wishbone (control arm) bushing holes have been known to crack in the past so I would be very careful about putting too much stress through them!

    Bushings came out cleanly from the factory control arms, just have to make sure to support them sufficiently but not an issue.

    There really wasn't much pressure at all placed on those end washers but I do believe it was just a bad batch. Front end install is complete. Going to tackle the rear end of the car next weekend! Might just go ahead and swap my diff out with my 3.73 diff at the same time since I'll have the half shafts already disconnected

    Then the car is off to Todd at A&C Performance for alignment and whatever else he can convince me on while its there
