Looks like it cracked $50K. Anyone on here bidding?

It looks like closed at 53k.

    Was in pretty nice condition.

I don't know if 'concours condition' is fairest description though with a black painted dash and doorhandle surrounds (pic 17 of 36), instead of stock fuzzy grey finish. There are some NOS parts floating around I guess if they wished to get to stock, but that would add a bit to the price.

Also, it seems like the rear right and left wheels were installed on the wrong side (pic 3 of 36). Pizza cutters are supposed to spin the other way, there is a stamp on the inside of the wheel.

Interesting.. my car is by far in a better condition than this one, and lower mileage.
Only the model year is the difference... mine is an early 93.

There's always a buyer for anything. It's just how you pitch it to them.

    Wow it's a 92.. so?

While the 92 and 93 are pretty similar in that they are both antenna cars, the 92 is and always will be the first and therein lies the biggest difference. I see these going up from here. Not many made and they are getting harder and harder to find. I think mine is in much better condition than the one that sold although mine only has 3K miles on it.

Are you being serious? I'm sure there are plenty of Vipers in better condition but: this. Is. A. 1992. Dodge. Viper. Do you know how rare this year was? How Iconic this first year of production was? A buyer for anything...yeah like it takes a salesman to sell a 1992 Dodge Viper. Smh

Further to that, its like saying the guys that came in 2nd and 3rd place are just as deserving of fame and glory as the guy that came in first place. Face it: 1993 and 1994 are illegitimate stepchildren to 1992. Sooner you realize and accept it, the happier you will be.

Oh I totally get what you guys are saying.. but, are you telling me that a viper produced in June 92 is more superior than a viper produced in September, October or November 92?

Not that I don't get the "concept" thinking behind numbers and years

    Not superior. Just more valuable.

I didn't know so I had to look it up, a second year 54 Corvette sells in the $50k-$200k range on ClassicCars.com. The only reference I could find on the first year 53 Corvette was sold at Barrett for $660k. Quite a price gap between first and second year..

To add to the other's, yes this is precisely what everyone will tell you. I am not in the market for a GenI but if I was I can tell you that I would not even look at a 93, 94 or 95. A 92 on the other hand I would love to at some point add to the stable!

It's really not about superiority. Simply stated, 92 was the first year and that is where the significance lies. One could argue that as the years passed, the car was made better and refined, but none of that matters. The first is the first and its that simple.
