    First time at Sebring

Had a great winter getaway at Sebring with the ACR. Ran with my nemesis Gary as always, a few other buddies from wv, hung out with Sean, and met 2 other acr owners Frank and Royce. Awesome track, but a lot to learn for my first time there, i ran the Kuhmos for the first 3 sessions and corded a front passenger side so switched over to scrub Pirelli slicks. Not sure of the comparison because i was learning the track all at the same time. Day one the weather was pretty good but cool in the 60's was just trying to figure out the limits to some point. I ended up running the night session as well which was interesting, Ive never ran at night, it is mostly all memory as you couldn't really see where you was going. Sunday it rained but we got out on a slightly damp track after lunch and it was pretty dry by the very end of the day. Day one i got down to a 2:14.53 night time was running around 2:18s-2:19s and day two got down to a 2:14.23. My fastest lap i was held up quite a bit by a c5 corvette as you see in the beginning of the video. Other laps in that session was showing a predictive time in the 2:12s but they was all hindered by traffic. Can't wait to get back there but its a long haul!

I was at Sebring with my non extreme gen V ACR. It was great to see the ACR-Es really flying and showing what these cars are capable of. Sebring is a challenging track with loads of racing history. A 2:14 for the first time there is pretty outstanding in my book. The best Viper time that I recall from my many days at Sebring was an ACR-X running consistant 2:11 and 12s. That was a car from the Trans Am series with a pro driver. There may be faster Viper times out there but I have not seem them. So kudos for the 2:14. Aside from the awesome ACR presence, it was fun to be on the track with a couple of Craftsman Trucks one which was driven by former series champ Mike Skinner. Still trying to figure out how such a big box can be so quick!

Great vid, thanks for posting. What were your lap times on the Kuhmo's versus the Pirelli scrubs? Where do you get the scrubs from?

How was the wear on the slicks compared to the Kuhmos?

Nice job, not bad at all for your first time there. Track is bumpy and there's lots to remember.

I was learning the track on the kuhmos, and i was in the middle run group since i have never ran there, so there was much more traffic and really tough to get a good run. The kuhmos i had on the front was half worn out. I corded the inside passenger side kuhmo on the 3 session. The second session i only got 2 laps which was my checkout ride but then the session was black flagged. First session i ran a 2:22 second session was 2 laps so it didnt get a time, 3rd was 2:19 on kuhmos, 4th was 2.16 on slicks 5th was 2.14.53 on slicks. I ran the night session as well which my fastest was 2.18 on slicks but it was really tough to push requiring a great deal of memory and knowing the track well. Day 2 it rained in the am then went out after lunch to a damp track and ran some 2.20's then took a passenger in 90% dry to a 2.15x then ran multiple 2.14 laps. Best rolling lap after that video was a 2.13 tbl was 2.12's. Predictor was showing 2.12s in the last session but there was no way we was getting a clean lap. According to the lateral g's i was hitting around 1.38 on the kuhmos and 1.48 on the pirellis. I never felt like i was comfortable enough with the track to push the kuhmos. These are not new pirellis either, not sure what they would do, but even used i think they are more stable than the kuhmos under braking. The kuhmos also have a more progressive curve after peak grip for catching the car where the pirellis will break loose alot faster after the limit must react alot quicker. My kuhmos also wasn't new so all this probably means nothing. On new kuhmos i've set my personal best ever at mid ohio which is my home track, but i havent had the car back since with pirellis. This is about all the info i have. For me i like the pirellis or hoosiers better as they are more consistent throughout a session where as the kuhmos seem like an autox tire that is good for a few laps then overheats. I would still say the slicks are slightly faster that the kuhmos but i dont think its very much.

Every time ive ran the kuhmos I seem to cord them in less than a day new or used. The ones i was using had a day on them by someone else. The rears are not a problem on either. Generally the pirellis will heat cycle out before they wear out. For new hoosiers i got 4 days on the fronts before i corded and the rears are still fine, although probably close to cycled out.

On another note, my car went into limp mode in every session i ran Saturday. Finally got a code of p0300. Random multiple misfire. I could limp off track restart the car and it would be fine for the rest of the session. The only way i could keep it from doing it it seemed was to short shift around 5800 rpm, which i did in the last session and the night sessions. With the help of Tom Session via phone support, i changed all the plugs while it was raining Sunday morning and cleaned the MAF sensors they was a bit more dirty than i would have thought they should have been. Also we noticed that Gary's 2017 acr didnt have the foam heat shields under the plastic valve covers, so we remove them as well Sunday. Im not sure which item fixed it but i ran the car hard Sunday and never did get any limp mode or CELs.

Did you soften your suspension up? You have to make some adjustments to your setup at Sebring due to all the bumps

Have been running 4/7 front 3/7 rear for awhile. Seems to work pretty good.

Nice driving! P0300 was likely cured by changing out the spark plugs. That random misfire is usually plugs, plug wires, injectors, or coil pack. Not heat related, or MAF related.

I think you may be correct as it didn't do it any more, another thing i found was a the pcv valve was about a turn loose leak a bit of oil. I fixed that mid day and it didnt seem to change anything.

That track always gives me trouble on Forza on my XBone
Then again, that's most likely the only I'll ever drive on that track...

Good job though, for a dude who didn't know the track you was hauling!
