    Warranty question issues

So I took my bone stock 2014 Viper to my local Viper dealer for what was 99% warranty and a new key program which I figured would be at my expense. Well once the car gets there it kind of starts off 50/50. First they offer no loaner car for warranty work on their flag ship car and want to charge me $35 a day for some crappy rental car. I pass as I have other cars at home and have no clue they will need the car. The car had a small evap leak cel and a tpms system fault again figured cold and or elevation change from sea level to 5500ft as I have had this before on other cars. I also have the yellow melting rockers, and the hood, fender light is off on passenger side by a good amount so figure they can sort all this out. Also have water and water streaks in a head light so figured they would order parts, program and fix the minor issues and all would be good.mi get a call to go look at car as they had some concerns song head over and the purge evap hose on the driver side is melted clean through which tells me it was not checked prior to being shipped/sold to me from the big dealerninbought from. There is a bolt missing on the under belly pan, there is a ground wire hanging down not connect on the driver side and seems as if the r28/r29 recall that was done was not 100% right as a wire is pinched on the valve cover gasket and that's where the ground wire goes. In all nothing major but the service manager goes on to show me bolts and random items that "proves to him the rockers had been removed and from his "guess" maybe the car had after market exhaust and or headers which does not have anything to do with the yellow melting rockers on both sides which show factory cats, exhaust in place. He now proceeds to tell me the head light moisture is normal and unless the entire life gets fogged up nothing I can do. He then wants to charge me almost $700 in parts and labor for a valve cover gasket, evap hose, under belly bolt, program key and a $110 to relearn the tpms. This all seems suspect since the car was serviced a a dodge dealer, they did all the work and there is no after makers items on the car. Not to mention I'm stuck with scrappy headlight, melting rockers that may not be covered even though it is a known issue. I reached out to dealer I bought from thinking they knew all this and didn't disclose and he was very upset and stated that is all warranty work minus the key program.

So my question is am I being out of line or is this dealer trying to charge me form items that should be covered and the get paid by FCA for the work on top of that? Hard only having one viper tech dealer in the state.

At the rate this is headed I am tempted to send car to VE and get the warranty work done proper, add some power and kiss the warranty good buy since it seems to offer nothing at all. Not even a loaner car?

Any help, mails who I can contact at viper or FCA as I planed a 30-50$ bill for they and not an$700 bill for warranty items. Even the parts are stupid high. They wanted $90 for valve cover gasket that I can get an oem from my supply house for $30!

I don't mean to sound petty but I wanted a viper and enough it and it is making it harder and harder to do so. Since 9/2016 I have had lost of small issues that is making me not like the viper.

Can anyone guide me and help me so I can engine this American exotic as the weather warms up.mi am hoping dealer I bought from can help mitigate cost so I'm not out another 1k for items that should have been fixed before I got the car,

    Thanks guys,

Feel free to pm me or even text me and I can see the invoice from the current dealer.

Welcome to owning a Dodge product. The only real downside to the Viper is the fact that warranty issues are handled by baboons. My 911 is in the shop for a rattle, and I'm running a brand new Porsche Macan for a week for free... Dodge dealerships won't even consider trying to fix a rattle and my Viper cost more, and they just offer me a shuttle ride home. Unbe-fucking-lievable.

I'd say there are only the "big 3" dealerships that are good to deal with, the rest are just shit to varying degrees. If I can ever get a dealership to fix my car properly, I plan on selling it for this very reason.

It is ALL warranty, except the key. Should be NO charge for any. Trust me, I've had PLENTY of warranty work done on my 13 in the two years I've owned it, and never charged anything. Find another dealer with a competent tech (can be tough, I know).

    Please keep us posted.

Took me 2 dealers before I found the right tech. I get a rental and everything is covered perfect every time.

Where are you located maybe another member has a dealership recommendation in your area?

There are plenty of good and great dealers out there. They are not all baboons. Talk with the sponsors on this site and they will send you in the right direction.

In case you hadn't seen the thread about dealers recommended by forum members, here is a link: ULTIMATE-Viper-Friendly-Dealer-List

I'm in New Mexico and don't even think there is but one other dodge dealer and they won't be a viper dealer for sure.

Same here my Porsche, Audi, MB dealer are the best took my turbo s in for work and left in a brand new Porsche for a few days.

Even my local ford dealer treated my Shelby KR and boss 302 LS like gold and always gave me cars to take and all warranty. Even now in my 3rd raptor they always have a new 150 or 250'waiting for me. Dodge and this $35 a day hertz car and to try and charge me for all these issues that were done or not done by another dealer kind of make the warranty pointless. Is there a viper hotline to complain and get it covered?

For the record I really like the viper and just want it fixed so I can keep and enjoy it. Hate to sell a car cause a dealer wants to rip me off. It is a fun car with its own following and I don't see 20 on the road every day.

I'm also waiting on "SRT engineering" response to yellowing rocker panel.

I originally took the car in and had the pictures taken by service manager in October. I checked in at Dodge for an update. No response yet from SRT Is what they told me... oh and my window rubber wings have been on "order" since August.

I really wish any other manufacturer built the Viper.

You can tell the service manager to go F himself. The EVAP hose melting is a common problem whether you have headers or not. John Gastman from Roanoke drove a bone stock Viper to one of our events here in Colorado and that car had the line replaced I think twice. It is in a bad spot. Tell them to take 1/2 gas line and reroute the hose on the fender side of the fuse box. It is easy as hell to do if you can operate a pair of cutters and a pair of hose clamps. That will keep it away from exhaust heat. I regularly check my Gen 5s and others in the club to make sure their EVAP line has not melted.

Anyone have a pic of that hose? I want to check mine.

Contacted them now let's see if that helps cause at this rate the warranty is pointless. Thank you all for the help. The comments of "you can tell bolts were removed, rockers off" seemed stupid as it was all factory and no sign of any aftermarket parts anywhere so how would that have anything to do with warranty.

    Invoice pic

Sad part is my cost on the oem needed parts is lower than the dealer cost on the same parts!

don't let them push you around on the rocker. my white yellowed and i had it documented by my tech. i never got around to replacing it (i didn't care at the time) but it wouldn't have been an issue with my dealer to push it.

I don't have a picture. It is hidden under the fuse box on the engine side. It is a shiny black plastic about 1/2 inch in diameter. It runs from the firewall under the fuse box towards the front of the car and then you can see it near the front of the engine higher up. It tends to melt right under the fuse box. If it melts closed you can't put gas in the car (no venting). If it melts open you can get a smell or not.

Sorry your going through this but if it makes you feel any better your thread reminded me why I sold mine. Good luck.

Small simple issues like any car has but just want dealer/FCA to do what they should before I give up on the car cause it is a blast to drive and looks amazing.

Fully understand your frustrations. These cars have many QC issues, but as I mentioned above, should all be covered under warranty. I've been upfront on this forum that I'm very disappointed in the build quality of the Gen 5 cars. Too many issues, some big, some small. But, if and when you get them sorted, by a competent tech, I think you'll feel better.

    Don't give up just yet

Thanks guys if SRT and the techs coul be this helpful we would have so,e badass cars and all be enjoying them!

Guess I assumed by my Porsche, AMG, Hummer, Caddy, GTR, BMW (one of the worst but better than dodge) and even ford that a car at this level would have a good service and support. Always made me nervous when a dealer that sells 20k cars starts selling 100k cars as I never know how the tech, customer service and dealer owners will know how to act. Seems as if Ford has been my hero and step up so far aside from the 3 big dealers here who have all been great but just far away.
