    New engine, crank sensor code, OBD tool wont clear it, easy way to clear code?

    I don't have a jack to take the wheel off to get to the battery (wait I'm thinking of a Gen 2, am I wrong to assume the battery is back there?) so I would like to disconnect the battery to clear the code. Is there a disconnect in the engine compartment, or do I need to disconnect at the actual battery? It looks like the code is due to the learn process for the PCM due to the new engine install.

    Open the trunk lid, the floor in your trunk is where the battery is. Lift it up and you will see it.

    There is a battery disconnect in engine bay, under fuse box cover.

    You can reset the PCM by removing the appropriate fuse. I believe it's #45 or something, I can't remember the exact number but it's in the user's manual. IIRC, there are two fuses related to the PCM.
    The battery is in the trunk. Open the lift gate, pull out the plastic floor and the battery is right there. You can unplug is for 15min or so. The Keep Alive stuff doesn't last too long.

    Its in the same place a s a gen 4 except you don't have to mess with the hex head bolts to access it. Its really easy. Keep us posted if this works please.

    New motor and you have a crank sensor code....that won't clear with a code reader.....stop right now and take it back to the dealer who installed the motor.

    I called them and they said they were having trouble with the code coming up and they think it was part of the PCM learning process. They suggested that I do 55-70mph pulls in high gear under load. They have installed gen V engines before. I'm going to bring it back at 500 miles for the first oil change and if it still has the code I'm sure they will re-do the learn process.

    Will it cause any damage to the car? The dealer seem to think that it would not. I have put 250 miles of my 500 break in miles on the new engine so far. It runs perfectly. My preference is just to do the rest of the 250 and bring it back for the oil change and have them take care of it at the same time.

    That's probably the best idea, that way they can't say you screwed it up somehow.

    They have installed engines before and they don't know what is going on with the code? This behavior drives me bat crazy. Sorry no advice on the code.

    Agree. Happened when mine was replaced. The initial learn didn't hold and the dealer had to plug in a scan tool and do the relearn procedure again.

    When a new engine is installed they must relearn the Tooth Error Correction or TEC. If they fail to do this weird things can happen. The TEC compensates for slight differences in tolerances.

    Mine did this, but it went away before the 500 mile mark.

    I tried clearing it by pulling the fuses for 15 mins, and that didn't work, so I tried disconnecting the batter itself for 15 mins, and it still didn't work. Perhaps I need to disconnect the batter and attempt to start the car so all the remaining charge in the PCM is drained?

    Also, I tried to clear the code with an old obdii scan tool but it just said E for error on my tool

    You need to take the car back. Sounds like they screwed something up. Read above where Viper George mentions Tooth Error Correction.
    Take it from somebody who got a '15 motor in '13 car and had nothing but problems after.
