Just want to give everyone a heads-up. DO NOT waste your money on the new GoPro Hero 5 if you are looking at getting a new camera for filming at the track or DIY or anything with where you want to have a usable audio track.

I finally gave up with the Hero 5 and and switching back to the Hero 4. There are all kind's of phantom noises, volume inconsistencies, and just terrible quality with the sound. The only solution is to buy a massive specific $50 GoPro audio adapter (Which counteracts the whole purpose of using a small recording device) that is about the exact same size as the GoPro itself. You then need to purchase an external mic of course.

Tried dealing with tech support on the issue. Comes down to the fact that the new GoPro has 3 mics and is constantly switching between each one and there is no way to turn this off in the settings. They even sent me a replacement unit under warranty. Same issue. Tried to record a video when I installed my new Borla catback and it sounded like I was filming with a flip-phone. Brutal...

Save yourself the money/headache and grab the older model or another brand.
