The Trade

Thought I'd share this. I have always wanted a Viper, set my mind to the fact I was going to get one. I had a full custom Chopper I didn't use, worked to get rid of it before the market crashed anymore. Wanted to trade, as I would get the most $ for it. I brokered a trade for a FFR Mark IV Cobra. It was the challenge model, needed some work, but I've also always loved Cobra's. Traded the bike plus $1,500 for the Cobra. Did some things to it(Engine work, New Trans, Seats, etc). Time came to sell it for something more practical, fast fun, etc. Took a lot of work, searching, negotiating, but I finally worked out a trade plus a little $ and I FINALLY had my child hood dream car, my Viper GTS. Here are some pics of the trade. Drove from WI down to OK to trade for the Cobra, and drove from WI to MO for the Cobra Viper trade.

Thank you all for the compliments!! I did love the Cobra as I've always loved them and Carroll Shelby. Being a Challenge model, the doors didn't open, bare interior, was very raw. Which didn't bother my much. I realized the car wasn't the best fit when I tracked it at Road America. It has the roll bars which run down the side through the doors. Driving aggressively I quickly found that these bars inhibited my ability to steer into turns and react efficiently in a race setting. I'm a bigger guy and just wasn't the best fit. I will own another one someday, but the roadster model without the full cage.

The Viper has a list of mods, Heffner intake, full Belanger exhaust (no cats), coil overs, brakes, shifter, wheels, Dyno tune, there's more I can dig up if you're curious.

We have an Arizona member who got rid of his (very nice) cobra replica for a Viper. It's a cool car but it is the distinct definition of a toy. You really can road trip in a Viper (as hundreds of us prove every two years.)

I'll always love the GTS. There is actually a lot of room in there too. In my gen II, I regularly had my guitar with me. And in ky gen III, my girlfriend and I can go on long weekends or whatever and fit all our gear AND my guitar. So it really is more practical than the cobra. Nothing wrong with the cobra, AT ALL. It's just a real lifestyle commitment.

Congratulations. I'm happy for you. There is nothing like it. Drive safely. Make sure your tires aren't old and have fun.

True to all that's said. Cobra is such a distinctive car and can only really use daily and/or local. I loved it, the sound the looks the performance, all of it. Viper is just more practical and enjoyable for longer drives. Thank you for the kind words! I've gotten some good driving in, I made this trade last august, just late in posting. I'll own another cobra so,eBay, but right now I love my Viper and don't ever plan on letting it go
