or better yet a 74 Eldorado!
or better yet a 74 Eldorado!
Less weight in that last reveal is a good start. Should most likely have AWD.
There have already been lots of spy photos with it running around with dealer plates without fender flares. Same rims as you are starting to see in the promo vids. With that much meat up front it kind of gives it away...

Am I the only one who doesn't care what kind of Challenger it is? With all the "special editions" I can't even keep track anymore.
That's why I bought a Viper, I don't see 50 of them every day.
But the biggest laugh I'm getting right now and everyone is just eating it up, but nobody has mentioned it... how exactly is the new one going to be both AWD and more lightweight at the same time? I don't see that working out.
its not awd, its adr- all American drag racer with big dumb fender flairs, lol
I agree and disagree. I agree that I do not see this being an AWD car. To add AWD and shed the claimed 200lbs would be drastic. Secondly I cannot imagine an AWD set-up able to hold up to 800-900HP when the sole intention of this car is drag racing, good luck warrantying that, it's not like it can run a 1-ton drivetrain and retain light weight. I disagree with the "it's just a Challenger". I don't want to get into the "cars are not an investment" conversations, but please.... That's like saying an old Hemi-Cuda has no precedence over the other similar models back in the day.
I have to add, Damn I hope those ugly ass fender flares are not what FCA is going to release in the production car and consider that a "wide-body". That would be worse than Chevy and the fender trim they used on the Z28 Camaro.
I fully agree
This 'Challenger' looks like someone just went overboard in the options catalog and then finished it off with some JC Whitney accessories.
I do feel a bit sorry for the guys that got a Hellcat, thinking they were top dog in the line up. May see a few of those for sale when this 'thing' is released
That car that Vin Diesel is standing next to looks like a south Tucson special to me. But to each their own.
Big horsepower on a 10 year old body/ suspension/ with ricer flare and only 200 pounds less because FCA doesn't have the $ to keep it up to date...lol

Maybe Dodge just bought the Liberty Walk kits ?
Yeahhhhh, not quite but close enough...
The Demon will be the new 'Halo', it's been mentioned before in a prior interview.
Also, remember, as often as the Mustang, Camaro and Challenger are grouped together as being the same class, they are not. The Challenger is ment to be a big comfy GT car, not a 'pony' car like the other two and it's also been mentioned that the Demon is designed to do one thing and one thing only. Go straight. (Kinda, let's be honest here you could go to the supermarket. Maybe.) Many folks that have been around the LX/LC platform have done their homework at the track for a while now, weight doesn't necessarily mean much of an issue. There are heavily modified Jeeps on this planet running 8's, it blows my mind watching a brick burn all four in the water box and then take off faster than a cat seeing a cucumber for the first time.
No chance for mid-engine anything. The ME412 was the closest mid-engine Chrysler project ever, the plug was pulled while Daimler was in charge and the SLR came to be.
Yes, GM is building a mid-engine something BUT I'm holding my breath on that one because they have a repeated history of building mid-engine Corvette concepts that are nothing more than a tease. Even Oldsmobile and Cadillac had mid-engine projects, the later of the two could even be a possibility but will see. Kudos to them for whatever it might be.
I can't wait to meet the Demon. It should be interesting.

I for one like it and am glad to see Dodge step up the performance. Hey, performance is performance no matter what. The sad part is that Dodge never put this much effort into the Viper. SRT did a great job with what they had to work with but Dodge dropped the ball on the release and on the marketing of a great car. It is kind of amazing that these manufacturers don't realize that you don't always get back what you lose to competitors. And in this case it is customers. I quit buying Chevrolet due to getting into a Viper and then buying other Dodge products like my Durango Citadel and soon to add a Dodge Ram truck.. If it weren't for the Viper, I would most likely have never ventured into a Dodge showroom.
I freaking hate to have to go back to Chevrolet for a sports car but I may have to go that route since the Viper is being discontinued.
I kind of felt the same. "Is that the blown SRT?" "Is that the hellcat?" "Is that the SRT" now it's "Is that the Demon?"
I wonder if it's going to be powered by the Viper's V10 matted with a blower. There was an article a month or so ago that said Dodge got some Supercharged V10's delivered.. I can't find the link atm-- but i'm not sure what else it could be.. Same 6.4 blown with more boost and a widebody?
ETA: The front spoiler looks very similar to the Challenger v10 concept car. I remember this when I had my Hemi Orange SRT8 Challenger.

Dodge seems pretty proud to say they have AWD muscle cars so I wouldn't be surprised if the Demon is...
most 16 cars are over 5 k off
http://jalopnik.com/the-dodge-challe...fro-1791648492The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon Will Have The Widest Front Tires Of Any Production Car Ever
Everybody has their own idiosyncratic set of criteria when it comes to buying a car. I have a weird space-utilization fetish, for example. If you’re someone who’s really into width, specifically tire width, your next car purchase is already decided. That’s because the upcoming Dodge Challenger SRT Demon will have 315/40R18 tires rear and front, the widest rubber toruses ever stuck on a production car.
Dodge has been enjoying teasing us about the Demon with video, and they’re doing it again:
Oh, the Demon is capable of doing a burnout? I never would have guessed. Seriously, this thing is basically a machine engineered to do burnouts that you can occasionally also use to pick up groceries, if you want.
According to GM Authority, the old record holder for widest front tires was the 2013 Chevy Camaro Z/28, which had massive 305/30ZR-19 at all corners. The Demon adds 10mm of width to that, giving just over a full-size Subway footlong’s worth of tire width, all around.
These tires, Nitto NT05Rs, are essentially drag slicks with just enough tread to be legal. Hell, their website calls the tires “D.O.T.-COMPLIANT COMPETITION DRAG RACE TIRE.” Here, read the whole blurb:
The NT05R™ is a D.O.T.-compliant competition drag radial designed for serious drag racing enthusiasts. The tire’s specialized race compound and large contact patch were engineered to provide maximum traction and promote even pressure distribution across the tread. The enhanced sidewall construction provides longitudinal launch traction while maintaining stability throughout the pass. You’ll get off the line quickly and down the track with speed and consistency.
The NT05R™ is recommended for dry competition use.
This car will likely be the first to be sold on competition drag racing tires.
These tires need special fender flares that make the car three and a half inches wider, and, even better, there’s a little Demon molded into the sidewall of the tire, just so you don’t forget FCA’s commitment to Satanism:
The demon in question is suspected to be an incarnation of Dzoavits, a Native American demon associated with volcanoes and cannibalism.
Since it’s a rear-drive car, the front tires really don’t need to be as wide as they are, but I suppose Dodge is thinking that they can just act as spares for when you smoke your rears out of existence doing burnouts because you’ve lost all control.
