Coincidence?
thanks!! I'll be there for Press day
This is what they should have been doing all along with the Viper. Breaking records, getting press, and hyping it up. I personally don't know like the looks of the challenger or the charger, but everyone likes the looks of the Viper. I just don't get it.
It looks like they can fit a bit more rear tire under that bodywork. Image how hard a Demon could hook with a 335!!
Glad the brand is still pushing the limits with the HEMI and muscle cars! Can't wait to see what the specs are on this thing.
Those widebody challengers look like a after thought- yuk
Is FCA going overboard on performance.......lol

In a straight line it will out accelerate our Vipers. Where's that Viper Exchange/Arrow Racing Gen V Supercharger when we need it?

Dodge’s next muscle car will be faster, lighter, and more powerful than the Hellcat

The Fiat-owned brand explains the upcoming model will raise the bar in terms of power and speed. Nothing is official yet, but we’re inclined to believe it will boast more grunt than the 707-horsepower Hellcat. The Demon could also use a high-performance version of the new Challenger GT‘s all-wheel drive system to transfer its power to the asphalt.

I wouldn't mind one of these in my garage. I really miss my 07 Charger SRT8. Fun, fast car, and a better handling car than most realize. 10 years on, with the better tech, suspension setup, not to mention power - yeah, this will be a great car.
Sad part is the GTs AWD is mated to a V6 --pretty much seems likely it would not be able to handle the power of a Hellcat in it's current guise , let alone the Demon! I agree that would be the Killer machine, but losing weight as noted is a big plus to start with.
It looks like they are putting a new hood "snorkel" type of hood on it as well. Maybe harkening back to the '70 TA hood, but bigger??
In an article I just read it says that Dodge considers the new Challenger Demon the Dodge Halo car
http://www.msn.com/en-us/autos/news/...cat/ar-AAm15n1
Pretty sad that our beloved Viper is not even out the door and they are talking about a car to take its place as the Halo that is just a performance package on one of the base model offerings. While the Demon may be a cool version of the Challenger, it will just be measured up against the Mustangs and Camaros. A Halo car it's not
I understand you're feeling, but the Viper is going away, so they have to have a new halo from something. Is what it is.....
You can see the bigger hood. I like it. More muscular for sure.
Whoops...
^^^^^ This is kind of like the accidental Gen V Hot wheels reveal. Whoops.
Yeahhhhh, not quite but close enough...
The Demon will be the new 'Halo', it's been mentioned before in a prior interview.
Also, remember, as often as the Mustang, Camaro and Challenger are grouped together as being the same class, they are not. The Challenger is ment to be a big comfy GT car, not a 'pony' car like the other two and it's also been mentioned that the Demon is designed to do one thing and one thing only. Go straight. (Kinda, let's be honest here you could go to the supermarket. Maybe.) Many folks that have been around the LX/LC platform have done their homework at the track for a while now, weight doesn't necessarily mean much of an issue. There are heavily modified Jeeps on this planet running 8's, it blows my mind watching a brick burn all four in the water box and then take off faster than a cat seeing a cucumber for the first time.
No chance for mid-engine anything. The ME412 was the closest mid-engine Chrysler project ever, the plug was pulled while Daimler was in charge and the SLR came to be.
Yes, GM is building a mid-engine something BUT I'm holding my breath on that one because they have a repeated history of building mid-engine Corvette concepts that are nothing more than a tease. Even Oldsmobile and Cadillac had mid-engine projects, the later of the two could even be a possibility but will see. Kudos to them for whatever it might be.
I can't wait to meet the Demon. It should be interesting.

That is an awesome looking couple of Sherman Tanks there. They are sooooooooo big and heavy compared to the Viper. Since there is no more Viper after 2017, I guess their top performer defaults to Halo. If Viper is gone and I believe it is riding into the subset as we speak with the girl and it's head held high, then the Demon is their Halo for now.
I do not believe the Viper name will come back! I also believe they are working on a version of mid engine ME16 car as the new halo. Seeing what Ford brought for excitement wth the GT, which energizes the entire brand, Dodge could be looking to do the same. Viper is 100% unique and used borrow parts from other lines, not the other way around where people feel a connection to GT because their center display is the same as a GT. Dodge always said borrowed not leant.
A mid engine super car Halo with a V8 is their change. Ford gave it to them when they put the V6 in. Americans love their V8s. With FCA connection to Ferrari, it only makes sense. Certainly gives them a leg up with that connection partnership as opposed the corvette developing it in an internal vacuum.
We will see! Either way, applaud Dodge for not just bending over and accepting a V6 as their halo. Americans love V8s. I love V8s (and my V10 too). No limitations!
