2018 Dodge Demon Wants You To Open Pandora’s Box
What’s in the box? Can we see what’s in the box? The list of things we know about the 2018 Dodge Demon now includes that it comes with a box, and there are eighteen items in the box including “track tools, spare wheels, and a Track Pack system.”
The fourth teaser in Dodge’s water torture of information about its upcoming wide-tired, lighter weight, big fendered, mouse-munching, super-Hellcat Challenger is sort of like the campaign itself. We want to know the answers of what’s in the box. The theme of this round seems to be customization, as Dodge asks us to make choices about whether street manners, quarter-mile times, or road course handling is the end goal. We’ve all sort of decided that the new Challenger is a straight-line blister pack and the latest video and photos does nothing to disabuse us of that. We don’t know what is in the box, but we do see Tom Coddington‘s name plate on the promo photo showcasing the custom nature of the container. Coddington was a member of the Dodge Ramchargers in the 1960s–a group of renegade engineers who made the company’s reputation on the dragstrip. That said, Coddington also involved himself in the Trans-Am Cudas and Challengers, so there still could be the smallest chance that this is a corner turner.
“The Challenger SRT Demon provides a platform from which each customer can design their own ultimate “Street/Strip” muscle car. It’s not intended for a road course,” says Dodge.
Oh. Well then. Guess that’s settled. “Each customer can decide at the time of order, or once they own the car, or even on a moment’s notice that they want their car to favor street performance, drag strip performance or something in between,” the latest press release says. Ok, so, you buy one of these, and you get a box, and there’s something in the box that helps you get to the track? Is it an SRT engineer? That would be useful
