    R/T- rear window gasket

Took the rear window out of car, love the looks with it out, but I don't think it had ever been out and the rear window rubber gasket is in bad shape, I need to find a new one for when I get caught in the rain and have to put window back in.

    Any help?

    Thanks

I had seen a post a while back about a guy who had gotten the gasket replaced locally so he could reuse the window. Since those may be hard to find that might be a good option to look into. Good luck.

Yes. There is a type of rubber gasket available somewhere that can be used. Of course I can't remember that info.

I have 75 feet of the gasket from C.R. Laurence available. I only needed about 8 feet +/-. This is the DIY on how to get it done. If you want some of the gasket PM me and I'll get some out to you for a nominal fee. http://beaver.vinu.edu/viper%20rear%...dow%20seal.htm

Tony thanks for the link! If you're looking to sell any more of the remaining stuff you have I'd be interested. This is one of those projects I've been putting off. My gasket has a tear in one of the bottom corners.

Jon, I have not looked at a gen 2 vs a gen 1 specifically. The pictures Tony linked to show a gen 2. Would the material used to repair a gen 1 be the same / similar? I can see the shape of the window is a little different but not sure what else I'd have to watch out for to try mine out the same way. Thanks!

That is my link, On a Gen 2 I think you need a little over 10 feet so I sold what I had left in 11 foot sections as i did not want to stretch the rubber. I wanted it relaxed after installed and give you a little length to get the miters right.

The hard part is getting old off, if anyone can figure out what it takes to soften the old glue it would be great.

Not to hijack this thread but some of you have PM'd me: Yes, I do have the gasket referenced in the DIY. I have 4 sets left, 11 feet each. I placed a classified for reference. http://driveviper.com/classifieds/bo...nt-gasket.html
