I hope they're right. Why would just the Gen 3 be the only year's to increase?
The article seems disconnected from its title. Is the author saying the choices are good buys on a cost/performance basis because he surely can't be saying a C5 corvette or Gen 3 Viper is going to skyrocket in value in 2017.

I'll take any, even remotely positive press about Vipers and rising values... The new ACR raised the Viper stock so it would be nice to see some trickle down effect.
Well i sure hope he is right. I own a 06 coupe..the only year the coupe was offered during that gen...

I recently saw a yahoo auto article comparing the Porsche GT3RS, Mustang Boss 302, and ACR against each other. Of course the ACR came in last because they found it too harsh. Why are auto journalists such candy asses? How would they rate the original charger Daytona back in the day? Would they say the wing affected visability and the VW Beatle was an all around better car?

Over and over again, heard it said..very quickly in passing.. The 2006 Viper is a great place to start.
Can pick one up near the bottom of its depreciation curve and it's expected to appreciate.
But then from my research it didn't take long to realize the Gen IV Viper was the place to start (for me).

After a refresh like that, all earlier models will depreciate further and faster.
Any car you can love, own and drive for years then sell without losing money is a HUGE win IMHO.
If it goes up in value, even better "investment" A similar priced rental Real Estate investment will out perform any of these cars mentioned. Just not as much fun!

Absolutely agree with SLViper! If you can get out what you put in and enjoy it for years, it was a good buy. For me, land is always a good investment when you do your homework right.
Personally after seeing zero responses to my thread request to the club and members on documenting the cars and really creating that market / removing the misunderstood part, I will say the Viper is NOT going to be a big collector period, none of the years. Been saying the 92's will go up but the whole lot of them will remain a car oddity. Fun car but not a collector s any remote sense of the word. GEN IV is circles around a GEN III. GEN III will be the generation that does the worst, sorry! Hell I owned one from new but there are more classic Viper shapes in other gens. It will be the 1984 corvette of the bunch.
Even if your car doubles in value, how much did you spend on excise tax, insurance and maintenance all of those years? Breaking even is a win, making a profit a rare bonus and chances are if you have something that cool you probably don't want to sell it in the first place. I earn 1% prejudgment interest per month retroactive to accident date on my cases as a lawyer and it takes years to go to trial. The jury isn't instructed on prejudgment interest and we've had cases double the verdict amount. Beat that stock market. Lolz
