    Information on Special Edition Cars

If you're waiting on one, here's some information you might not be aware of. I learned it at delivery time myself.

I was pleasantly surprised to learn that it's a GTC with all of the Extreme ACR components to making it a street legal race car. So what right? Well for starters there's no lithium or light weight battery. There's the 12 volt that I had on the GTS. Will last longer, probably less of a fire hazard and less maintenance and a deltran tender hooks up nicely.

Next I didn't realize I was getting a 12 speaker stereo sound system. It's not as cool as the 18 speaker I had in my GTS but it's much better than the 3 speaker in the 16 ACR. Many guys have upgraded those and there's no need on this model

There's actually some carpeting and even floor mats, which I was not expecting. Win again.

Finally, if you were ever out of your mind and wanted to sell, check your glove box. The car comes with a second dash plaque that says ACR instead of the installed one with your name on it.

These were a few subtle yet pleasant surprises for me as I neared and then experienced delivery. Hope it's informative for others. Enjoy!

The questions I still have are :
Is the x brace on the Se's carbon or the standard xbrace?
Do they have normal seatbelts or driver harness?
Which differential cover is on the car?
I am guessing because of they aero they have .62 top gear ?

Standard x brace. Not sure of other answers especially seat belt as mine is still covered in the plastic. Hope to get that off this weekend....

My understanding is that they have the .50 top gear. I was actually trying to get my car spec'd with the .62, and was told that they come with the .50, and I'd like it better that way...

Great post Policy. Glad to see you so excited about that special car, I know it's not your first G5. Does your dash plaque say #6, 6/11 of 6/22? Did you order through Tomball or Roanoke? Keep posting the good news. Enjoy man.

It says "6 Roanoke" Thanks! Salesman was shocked at how excited I was especially since I already had a Gen V. I guess I just feel like I got a great piece of automotive hissssstory...!

Looks like it pops on/off. However there's specific instructions on the package to only allow a dealer to do it. Hope my original plaque never comes off.

So just as a reference from someone here who has a 2017 1 of 1 ACRE, all the same stuff mentioned as standard for the special editions is also standard for the ACRE. Not sure if that is true in 2016 or if that is a recent change

Thanks for that clarification. I didn't know. The whole GTC thing but still ACR thing wasn't apparent to me.

Did the dealer edition come with a free matching car cover? ACREs of course are just like any other viper and you had to pay an extra $500.

Mine popped off with a little care not to damage the leather dash. It took 2 minutes to swap.

My only complaint on my ACR-E is the gearing. 6th is just so tall and useless other than highway cruising. I would have preferred it being closer ratios and VMax in 6th. But I have to assume the engineers know what they're doing.

The reason for this, is that with the aero, the car VMaxes in 5th, so no reason for 6th to be close ratio.

I for one, wouldn't mind that 6th ratio with the 3.55s in the rear. Gives a good excuse for a gear change on the highway when you want to pass quickly. It seems to me, the non ACRs rev pretty high for an 8.4 liter on the highway. It doesn't need the help to keep up with traffic.

The ACR-E is standard with the ACR lightweight battery not the heavier cheaper battery. It's hardly a negative despite the OP's opinion and works just fine in a standard battery tender as it's a lead battery. Probably won't be catching fire either lol...NO cars came with the Lithium battery. It sounds like the special edition is a mix of ACR and a lower spec (12 speakers, no CF) GTC. There are no differences between the '16 and '17 ACR-E in any spec to my knowledge.

They initially marketed the ACR as lithium, as u know, which no car got which was weird. Even with the lighter weight non lithium lead battery the owners manual says it won't work after 20 something days unless plugged in. The heavier battery and carpeting is only about 8 pounds difference. I'd rather lose that weight on my person and have what I have in my car. You already know the 3 speaker stereo was a must upgrade because you've done so yourself. Your car is great. But so isn't mine. Happy new year! !

If and when the upgrade kit becomes available would definitely recommend adding the extra speakers, big difference. Had the twelve in my TA and the 18 is waaaay better. Easy install too but have to visit a dealer to reprogram. Unfortunately the required upgrade kit ( Part # 82213535 - Quantity 1 - 12 to 18 Speaker Upgrade Kit) is on hopeless backorder.

The special edition cars are treated as 1ofxxx GTC ACR-E cars which all get 12 speakers, extra dash plaque, added insulation, hood liner, etc. Order a standard ACR-E and you get a car like yours with 3 speakers, no hood liner, insulation removed; order a 1of1 ACR-E and they all come like this (although you obviously have the option to add whatever you want if it is not a special edition).

I understand the aero caused more drag. My point is, instead of leaving the gearing as-is from the more slippery base viper, I would have preferred they re-geared it specifically for the ACR-E allowing VMax in 6th. The car really falls on its face in the shift to 5th, and that could be helped with gearing. I'm sure it's an EPA thing though.

Virtually all of the Limited Models ( essentially One of Ones as Doug mentioned) are waiting for the custom car covers, as are customers who built their own machines and optioned them out with the upgraded custom cover.

Can't wait to see that RED WHITE & BLUE stripe theme and with my name on the driver's side of the cover! Winning!!

Man all these new trim levels are confusing! For someone just catching up to speed, how come a GTC would be trimmed to an ACR? Couldn't the ACR just have a carpet. regular battery, and 12 speaker option?

    GTC - GT custom

ACR Option package, TA 1.0 Option Package, TA 2.0 Option Package ,etc. , all were added to the One of One format so folks could customize the car in a myriad of ways. A conventional ACR is just that , it comes with very distinct colors, specific options and no real changes. Essentially the GTC with the ACR Option can mimic a regular ACR but can change the interior , paint, stereo, and many other items to make it special and unique for each customer.

That is the short answer, but just think of them as variations on a model, no different than say a truck , that at one level has only cloth seats and one has to set to another to get leather. In this case you have the standard ACR, but if you want to get very creative, you had the option to build it from scratch in the One of One program.
