Sound Clip Muffler delete with hiflow cats arrow pcm

Stock manifolds, hiflows, straight pipe, and the arrow pcm warranty delete.

Video clip of revs and acceleration. (Pardon my granny shifts. Was driving with 1 hand, cold corsa tires, in 9 degree weather.

I am so glad i did this experiment. I noticed zero drone at any rpm. Saved myself $1300 on an exhaust and a lot of weight. Straight pipe is only slightly louder than exhaust. Your neighbors wont be pissed.

Muffler delete was less than $50 and an easy DIY.

Do we know for sure that an Arrow controller is required to run hi flows?
    Sounds AWESOME

You can use stock PCM if a CEL doesn't bother you.

I tried none foulers and driving the piss out of the car, nothing would shut it off.

I believe that a second cat gut/or delete will give you the hiflows without the CEL though. As far as i know nobody has tried this, but there is no 02 bung after the second cat. 2 years ago If i had all the wisdom i have today, thats exactly how i would have done my exhaust (only to keep warranty in place). I could of had the exhaust sounding how i wanted for $50 total and still had my warranty. Instead i have $2000 in arrow and hiflows and no warranty.

IDK what I have done differently BUT I installed ARH long tube headers with their high flow cats and stock mufflers and as of right now I STILL have no check engine light on.

I have had them installed for over a month now. I daily drive the car and just about 500 miles driven mostly short city trips but there was 1 round trip of 150 miles of interstate driving. No active or stored O2 sensors codes.

Everyone told me my check engine light would turn on instantly with this setup. I am not complaining but I am still wondering why mine has yet to turn on. If it's only going to turn on every couple months or XXX amount of miles I am ok with just clearing the code when it comes on from time to time.

And BJG32....sounds good and now gives me yet another option to consider about my mufflers.

Certain Viper zealots may argue that the decel pop is worth the warranty delete!

    Sounds great Ben.

Could be the brand of highflows? Mine are RandomTech.

Could possibly. But even with the ARH long tubes and the ARH HFC's I was still told the light would come on. Maybe no one has tested it and went straight for the Arrow PCM when they installed long tube and HFC's. Hell that was my original plan until all the threads about warranty being voided if the Arrow goes on.

So I decided to roll the dice....so far so good.

Thanks for the post!! Sounds great, I bet it sounds better in person.. When I had my exhaust off, I was going to gut the second cat, and found that its all metal substrate material and would be extremely hard to remove, my exhaust guy said he's done this before and the metal just collapses on itself. So the next plan was to cut that second cat off. Didn't want to do this because I wanted a factory exhaust to bolt back up if anything went wrong. DId you get these HF from Jon at Parts rack???

I ran Bellanger headers with hiflow cats and stock catback. I got a CEL when first run after install, once I cleared it, it never came back and I passed state OBD emissions. I also ran the Arrow later once it became available.

Yes, JonB provided the HF cats for me, but if i were you i'd buy a used OEM set and make my own if you are not going to do headers to avoid CEL issues. I think there is some OEM for sale now in the classifieds.

The HF from John will sound better, plus when the CEL comes on, I have a scanner. I just hope the o2 extensions work for at least a 1000 miles or so, I don't want to be clearing codes every day. Dmans comment above gives me hope. How would you say the HF cats made the car sound compared to just straight pipes?

HF make a bigger difference to exhaust volume by far.... at least on the gen5.

My gen 2 is muffler and cat deleted. Its ignorant loud, but fun. I removed cats first and it got a bit louder. I deleted the muffler next and now it sounds like a promod. Kind of funny how they seemed to react the opposite to the changes.

Pardon the tongue in cheek question but how easy would it be to run a 2nd cat delete and muffler delete setup that is swappable in case of a warranty issue? My guess you'd need to start with a 2nd OEM setup, hack it up, and then swap them when needed. However, not sure if there is a serviceable/removable section that attaches between the 1st and 2nd cat after the 02 sensors.

looked into this already... the second cat comes off with a saw only. . to gut it is a very difficult task. You would need a S**t ton of oil to drill out the metal and it would drip down into the first cat having yourself a big Cluster F***. The options are:

    1. hf cats, o2 spacers, buy a scanner hope you don't get CEL (keep oem set up)

    2. HF cats, warranty Delete (as BJG said) with arrow so no CEL

    3. Cut the second cat off... Hope there's no CEL and buy two OEM cats in case of emergency.

100% possible. The only reason you would want to gut the second cat is to pass visual inspection which would involve removing the sills which will likley never happen. The idea you laid out is exactly how i would go if i did this all over again.....

Lou Belanger does use a 50 state legal high flow cat, this may be why it's not prone to throwing a CEL, just guessing. My car sounded awesome with Belanger headers, high flows and stock catback, at full throttle winding up I couldn't imagine wanting it louder, she screams. And when the pcm went on it popped and crackled like it had a straight thru exhaust. I loved that setup.

Damn that decel pop is amazing. I wish I had the balls to do the warranty delete. I soooo want that pop. Damn you FCA...Damn you

Are you able to get more decel pop with just an exhaust like Corsa? I thought I read that somewhere?

The decel pop on my car was very noticable even with with with the stock exhaust. Highflows or cat deletes are where you get your volume.

I do not notice a huge difference between stock exhaust (quietest option) vs Straight Pipe (Loudest option). After my experiment I think all exhaust systems for this particular car are a waste of money if you have a cat on your car. The muffler delete sounds great, no drone, and lightest option. If you are deleting your cats, you'll probably want some sort of glasspack on that car.

Looks like 4 would be to buy the 1895 shipped option that does exactly this through Jon B
    http://driveviper.com/forums/threads...-Cats-Catbacks

I actually posted in that thread a while back, before the whole warranty fiasco ensued. Seems to me now that at under 2k for a deep sound, retaining original OEM exhaust and no CEL and no hacking seems like a good deal.

If the belanager highflow does not trip the CEL, then yes I would agree, that it would be a great option to replace stock cats. However, after hearing the straight pipes I personally think paying for any exhaust system after the cat is a waste.

Where did you get the straight pipe Ben?
Can one do JUST the straight pipe without anything else? Worth it? Codes?
