Looking for tire suggestions OEM rims but would like to start doing track days

Wheel/tire guy here. Invo is pretty awful on the road course, sidewalls are flimsy and the car tends to wobble across the wheels on hard cornering. They are a good straight-line tire and daily driver tire, but that is about it. I would go with the Michelin Pilot Super Sport, they last longer than the Corsa and work nearly as well on-track. I've run both on my TA, and find the Corsa is just more consistent lap after lap during a 20-30 min session. The Super Sport is hard until about 2 laps in, then works great for about 10-12 minutes, then they turn greasy and start to understeer. I have the R888's inbound now, as I've loved them on my '69 Camaro since June.

It's hard to overlook the price of the Invo, do you think as a newbie on the track I'd be able to notice that they are inferior?

Point well taken, I guess I'll use the Corsa's until I get into it enough and it's worth getting another set of wheels with track focused tires.

I wouldn't recommend a beginner go out on tires that handle worse. Seems counter-productive. You'll be more confident with traction and good tires, as well as safer for you and the car.

Saving a couple hundred bucks on tires is a rounding error when tracking a car as fast as a Viper. There are so many consumables. Just pro rating the other consumables of rotors, pads, gas etc will run way more than that per weekend.

I think as a new track user, you'll still notice enough squirm to sap confidence with inferior tires. On the flip side, I wouldn't go straight to slicks either, as they don't give the same feedback as R compounds. The Corsa is a great tire to start with, I think. They communicate very well, both through the wheel and audibly. They also perform very well up to 8 tenths, it might take quite some time to find their limitations, but they'll talk to you the whole way there.

I must have missed that. I'd pick up some Corsa's if the price was right. I have to talk to him anyway about a few things. The last thing I need are more tires in my foyer lol. My friends said my home smells like rubber.
