Happy 25th Birthday to the 1992 Vipers

This years' celebration started last April with a 25th Birthday party for the 1991 Viper Indy Pace Car. The celebration took place with Roy near his home in Michigan. We wore our 1991 Pace Car caps and sang Happy Birthday to the 1991 Viper Pace Car. Crazy but fun. He is a great person and we had a very nice celebration together.
Now it is time for all of us to celebrate the 25 Anniversary of the births of the first 3 production Vipers; VINs 001, 002 and 003. They were completed in early/mid December, 1991 just 3 years after the introduction of the Viper Concept Car at the Detroit Auto Show on January 4, 1989. The first two Vipers were delivered to Lee and Bob. The #003 Viper was retained by Dodge and I believe that it was displayed at the auto shows in January, 1992. It was subsequently used for durability testing.
Congratulations to the many Team Viper and New Mack Avenue folks who worked in overdrive to create this fantastic new Viper RT/10 roadster for us. What a car!

So 1992 was the first year but was there officially a 1991 Viper???

No, only in the form of the 2 Viper Indy Pace Cars. They were not commercial production vehicles.

One of my favorite threads in awhile. This car and its early history, including the men and women that made it all happen deserve to be spotlighted this year.

Congrats Viper and thanks for posting.

The MDH's for the first 3 Vipers do not reflect the actual completion dates for these cars.
All 3 were completed and came off of the line in December, 1991.

B4 You is correct. He knows more viper info and details than most. First person in his state to own a Viper and first person in the country to own 2 of them.

Well I am an owner, the viper pictured is mine. B4 You was apart of the original viper owners meetings and orders, met Mr. Shelby and the whole Viper team. So if anyone knows it's him, I'll let him chim in if he feel the need to entertain, but doubtful.

I have confidential documentation to validate my initial post. Since it is not available to the general public, I have chosen to share some of the facts in a general way to instill excitement over the launch of the first production Vipers. The Birthday Party starts now and will continue on through next year for each of the 285 Vipers that were produced.
Despite many obstacles, what the Viper teams accomplished was sensational. Each person gave the program their hearts and I am forever grateful. It has and continues to be a fantastic experience. Thank you.

Thank you for sharing the info! Once Viper is dead and gone next year, can you share the confidential info after that? 2017 will be a very good year.

The confidential information must remain confidential but I plan on contributing information through the year.
I hope that it will be appreciated.
Thanks again to everyone on the the Viper Program, 1988 - 2017!

I can remember being a teenager when I first heard of the Viper, then somewhere around 93', 94' is when I had the pleasure of seeing my first in person, it was like a fantasy come true. 1999 I went for my first ride in a Viper, a 97' B&W GTS.... will never forget that moment! For years it seemed it would forever remain a fantasy to own one. To the car that made me dream, to the car that made my passion for cars what it is today... HAPPY BIRTHDAY VIPER!!!
