Thumbs up Mecum Auctions Viper 2005 KC

Unless you want to give your car away, Don't sell it at auctions! 2 - 2005 went for 28k & 35k.
I'd shoot myself at those prices. oh boy. Someone got deals!

Depending on miles that's most likely a fair price. Hate to break it to you.

You might die a young man!

As Martin pointed out those prices are pretty average for a GEN III

It's an auction. Based on all the parameters established by Mecum for this auction (timing, location, advertising & marketing, participation, etc.) the sales prices accurately reflect the market value. Change the parameters and you can probably get a better price, i.e., wait months for the best selling season and/or buyer (and various other potential sales marketing benefits).

"Value" is the agreeable sales price between a bonafide a buyer and seller at the time and place of sale. Virtually every car is worth more to a seller (likely even more so to an non-selling owner) than a buyer will actually pay (excluding extraordinary conditions).

    $35.5 for a red '05 vert with 42k miles

$28 for a yellow that looks rough and doesn't have the miles listed or a reference to a clean car fax

Neither looked like a steal to me

$35.5k at an auction was priced right, although the sell still paid a 10% premium. $28K even rough, cheap fun if it runs good.

That yellow Viper was at the Dallas show also. It looked like it had a hard life and definitely needed more prep to bring top dollar.

If you go to the Mecum website and look at the wrap on the front you see it peeling away.

    4 P's - Poor Prep = Poor Price
