Glad to hear you were taken care of!! great job to those behind the scenes that are helping the owners. Now if we can just have some proof that it won't be a problem, I guarantee many people will be adding the PCM, headers, and exhaust. I miss the raw sound!
I just saw another 2013 engine fail. Luckily it was stock and covered under warranty.
I came across it while messing on instagram. States a rod bearing went bad.

I wonder how long he waited for them to OK the replacement? It's now taking weeks, I believe, until they are convinced there are no mods.
Probably a silly question but I was planning on a 13-15 in about a year. What happens if I get a 13 with like 1500 miles on it and then engine blows at 1600 miles out of warranty? SOL I would guess...
Andy is a great resource for our community - so helpful.
I'd stick to one that still has the 6/60 drivetrain warranty, that would cover the engine and diff, which are the two main things to 'worry' about. Any gen5 with zero warranty should end up highly discounted, then you can save a budget in case you have an issue, and be free to mod. Two possible approaches.
The powertrain warranty was extended from the original 5 year/100,000 miles to 10 years/100,000 miles on select 2013 and 2014 Vipers. So far, all cars that were subject to the r28 recall that have been checked have shown the extension and none that did not have the r28 recall show the extension. Therefore, the consensus is that it is only the r28 cars that were extended. Definitely, you would want to verify that with a dealer on the specific car that you would be buying. There is another thread that is trying to validate whether this extension of warranty follows the car, and is NOT specific to the owner at the time of the extension. There is some conflicting evidence on this. As a prospective buyer, I am keeping an eye on that thread. http://driveviper.com/forums/threads...-big-3-dealers

It's no better on the 16-17 cars. We have both 16 and 17 ACR-Es out there waiting on motor replacements from being blown, the 17 has 82 miles on it. The gen5 will be remembered for major records, but also engine failures throughout its entire production.
Where did you hear of the 17? 82 miles????

Here is the one from today
And some replies

Wow. A failed motor with only 82 miles on it!? What's even more shocking is that it's a 2017.

I really fear for the guys that have taken a gamble and bought these cars outside of the USA.......Timebomb ticking? Who the Hell knows?
I know its hard to follow all the issues on these cars across so many different Social media websites. Also you have to sieve through the facts to try and work out whether someone is telling the truth but Geez! I am amazed the owner has not hit the Websites and unleashed Hell!
Can anyone confirm if that's actually true?
I only use the VOA Forum and do not go on Facebook or other social media sites like twitter of instagram, so I don't have much of a clue what happens over there!
