My calendar says "January 2, 2017" and my DealerConnect still says Viper orders are closed. It's amazing to me that everyone still allows "news" from FCA to make them get so worked up, negative, angry and resentful..... seeing as it never really happens to come to fruition.

Unfortunately the result was that people (real buyers) ran to their local dealer, gave their "specs" and got in a line (some a very long of orders behind hopeful allocation) with fingers crossed and prayers made that the dealer will get an allocation slot and that they will be given that slot. There are going to be a lot of upset people from this.... Let's all remember, the factory absolutely shuts down this summer. They can only build 2 ACR's per day. Do the math. It's glaring that there will be very, very (very!) limited additional cars.

Of course, so many vocal people here didn't even do that..... I call it the "bark vs bite" syndrome. Yes, I'm calling out the few people on this forum for what they are.... those who make a hobby of complaining behind an anonymous avatar.

We've taken zero (0) deposits for this opening up of allocation. Why? Because it's a prayer and a hope. We do not want to disappoint anyone who is sincere about buying a new Viper.

We ordered cars when no one was ordering them (confirmed by FCA) and our cars on our website www.gerrywoodviper.com are available and in D status or better. If it's not marked "sold" on the first photo - you can have it.

It's the only real way to guarantee that you will get a car.

We had 12 cars drop last week, and they are gorgeous, unique and amazing in their own right. Several are sold. Some are not. If you want a Viper, one might consider this the best opportunity in a long time, for a long time.

If they release a new viper with whatever power plant, that beats $1M+ super cars around the track and sets 13+ track records again, I'd be looking hard at it. This is the issue I have with collectability etc., if a new gen6 blows the perf doors off prev gens, then I dunno, I'm not sure the world endears the v10 like a portion of the club does. It'll be interesting. Meanwhile, I'm really disappointed ordering didn't reopen sooner, but pulling the trigger now as I'm tired of waiting, I just wish dealers had ordered a few more silver cars, oh well.
I see your point but all I am saying is after 25 years of production and the Viper being iconic for it's V10, if Chrysler decides to do something different (V8 or V6) then I hope that they are creative enough to come up with a different name.

Not to be too wishful, but something along the lines of the ME-412 would get my heart pumping. Refresh the styling to appeal to more of today's buyers, and they have a mid-engined supercar that theoretically blows the doors off of the new mid-engined Corvette.

Let's face it - Viper is a great brand and a great car. That said, even though I love the car, that odd-firing V10 never sat well with me, and the exhaust does sound like a UPS truck. No way around that - it's just the nature of the beast, and it is uniquely Viper. Some people love it, some hate it - and that's what makes some cars garner a cult following. But, if they came out with something totally new and exotic, threw a turbo V12 in it, make it mid-engined, and style it by the folks in Italy who really know their stuff, keep it an American brand, and I'd be all over it.

That's not to say I'd get rid of my Vipers, but I'd certainly look to another American supercar to add to the stable (finances willing).

Back to the original topic of this thread - I do believe the orders will open up for a very short amount of time. So, if you want to get something ordered, visit a high-volume dealer, get in line, and spec it out and put a refundable deposit down to show you're serious. When orders do open up (for a day or two) you might just win the lottery. If you don't get in line soon enough, you're SOL and FCA can just say "well, we gave you two or three chances now, and it's your own damned fault for not jumping when we say jump." Sadly, they'll be correct with that statement.

Keep in mind that for now, they are shut down. I think they open back up this week or next (I think they shut down on the 21st for two weeks, so we can do the math). Nothing happens when nobody is working - and be ready for orders to open when people are back on the job. That's just my personal guess at how this will shake out.

Anybody who is thinking a Gen 6 is coming is living in wonderland. The car is dead. What you got is the last best Gen in the 5 and if you want one, see Woodhouse, VE or Gerrywood, that is your choice for new. Plenty of older Gens out there too. Here is to the best Viper produced
09 ACR With all the goodies
    99 ACR TT 99 red RT/10 Roe S/C
    97 B/W RT/10 TT 94 RT/10 TT

They will make another Viper. Dodge is not a pussy company like Honda where they are conservative. They make Vipers, Hellcats and other amazing SRT products that are badass. FCA is such a big company and the Viper is so ionic I hope they don't limit themselves to the V10. I would be ok with a 700-800hp reliable 8 cylinder with 2020 technology(electric assist or a boosted engine)

If any one of you guys own or test drove a Tesla P100, the torque from those electric motors is BANANAS. I know I'll be interested in a next gen Viper if they make one.
