I have mixed feelings about what I understand the benefits and drawbacks are of OAT coolant that I believe our cars have (Purple). Is this stuff the same stuff GM calls Dexcool (OAT)? If it is should we expect or be on the lookout for those same type of problems reported with dexcool (Sandy sludge like blockages/buildups in coolant system component)? Its my understanding Chrysler used to use the orange HOAT but following the merge with FIAT they had Orange OAT and the two would be to easy to confuse and mix (bad). So FCA switched everything over to OAT and then added a purple dye as an identifier; (not sure this is correct since i just read it someplace on the internet).
Can any of you or volume repair shops and dealers chime in on this? Thanks!
