Install of 710r cam Before and after video sound

I'm dying to see what gains were made just from a cam swap lifters springs and push rods.

Sounds good! Were you able to swap it out without pulling the heads? I'm going to be doing a cam and ported heads this winter. How was the install? I hear it's pretty straight forward and you can tilt the engine and slide the cam in without dropping the radiator out.

if your doing a cam install on a gen 3 , your going to want to buy slowbleed lifters.. gen 3 has fastbleeds... gen2 has slow bleeds...that being said. in order to take lifters out of gen 3 u need to take off the heads... its a 13 hour job.. my best friend did the install for me at his shop so personally i did not do the job.. but yes the radiator came off and heads also..in order to get the sound i got you absolutely need to replace lifters on gen 3... i took its out for a spin and boy o boy i felt the difference right a away of extra hp. i would say i gained about 50hp to the wheels... i will do a dyno and show b4 and after videos of results..

With all due respect I would assume that your friend had ported heads to accompany that cam at a minimum. There is no way that a GenIII car is even remotely close to 600whp with just a cam swap.

well thats good to hear.. i dyno at 480hp 507 tq on a mustang dyno.before cam. i would be happy with 515hp 530tq after cam swap on mustang dyno..also to add i just did a cam swap, no head or intake porting... so basically i changed out cam,lifters,springs and push rods.

Very nice Chicago. You should get some good power out of it. I know there was a guy named Tornado on the Viper Alley who dynoed in the 550's in his cam only Gen III. I believe he was stock gearing though and I'm not sure what he had as far as a tune or bolt ons but his car moved out pretty good. If you search his name on the Alley you can see what cam he had...it might have been the 710!

Cool thanks... the gearing will not show up on the dyno sheet , dyno measures actually power... i have looked into that many times.. although I only have access to a mustang dyno which give u lower numbers, so I might be around 525hp on dyno jet since I did 480hp on mustang dyno .. and that was b4 the cam swap.. anyways we will find out what I gained by this weekend hopefully

What do you have done to your car as of now? 11.11@125.20 is a pretty good time, and 480HP on a Mustang Dyno is pretty high! I've been at Dyno days with the New England region and watched Viper after Viper not even put those numbers down and that was on a DynoJet. When I had my 06 coupe it only had a cat-back but I also only put down 442HP/460TQ, we were all reasonably close (GenIII's anyway) and I was actually the second highest. If we were on a Mustang these numbers would have been considerably lower too. We all know numbers can vary from Dyno to Dyno even when it's the same type of Dyno but all of these numbers sound high.

600whp is easy to obtain on a Gen III but you have to have a set of ported heads in addition to a cam and bolt ons. There are several guys with 625-650+whp on h/c Gen III's. I will say that I've never seen a cam only Gen III come close to that. Dyno numbers are what they are. The most consistent stock Gen III pulls I've seen are 435-450whp. Occasionally you'll see some pull more (dyno's can also be manipulated) but I'd be willing to bet if you gave three bone stock Genn III's, that pulled 435, 450, and 460 on three different dynos, to someone to run at the track, they'd all run very close to the same time.

Nice and nice driving. No worries, I really don't get caught up in Dyno numbers but sometimes numbers just sound a bit stretched. I also agree a Dyno is best used as a tuning tool. I haven't been to the track in 2 years, I miss it and really want to get back next season.
