Sort of stupid question regarding the rear wing

SO my ACR-E is a white with GTS black stripes that means my rear wing is also painted white with the black stripes. I really like the real bare carbon look that just comes stock. What can I do to remove the paint to safely reveal the carbon?

Not sure about stripping paint but - did you try calling the Rep you ordered from and asking if they can ship the car with an unpainted spoiler?

A little too late for that as it wasn't my order and I just bought it off the lot. I ordered a plain black ARC-E in Jan and I'm still hopelessly waiting for that to arrive.

I'd call Prefix directly with that question. They would know what the bare bones CF looks like before painting and how and if you could strip it.

If it is painted wing it likely does not have the CF weave just the raw carbon compound.

As an aside, I started out with the exposed carbon but ended up having the wing painted in the end. Both look good, I prefer painted after having both.

Funny thing is my neighbor has the exposed carbon on a white ACR-E and he likes the painted look and I like the exposed look. You would somehow assume we could just trade but things just don't work out like that. I've though of just wrapping it carbon with vinyl but I really hate to pose, especially when almost everything on the viper is already carbon.

I love my painted wing. To each their own but for a car that sees a lot of track time it seemed the logical choice.

Ok, I give up. What makes a painted wing preferable for a track car?

I used some paint removal spray a few years ago. I needed an extra gas tank for my RC51 and after I bought one on ebay, I decided to paint it white to go along with the body work.
Anyway, after spending one hour with sandpaper and remove about 3 sq inch of paint, I went to O'Reilly and bought a can of sorts, sadly I can't remove the name of it but I sprayed the thing on the tank, waited for a few minutes and scraped the paint with a paper towel. That stuff was like make-up remover.

Assuming you used something like that, I'm not sure how the CF would fare since that stuff really did a number on that paint. Like mentioned earlier, I doubt that you would get the CF weave and my guess is that you'd end up with a very ugly wing...

I got my ACR-E wing unpainted because CF is just too pretty to cover with paint.

I'm scratching my head on this one too.

That's where I'm at. If it's real, it should be exposed.

Because if it gets hit, smacked or otherwise damaged in or out of the trailer it'll be much easier to fix paint than touch up exposed CF, particularly if something goes through the clear and damages the visible weave.
