    Which dynamat to use

There seem to be different ones which I assume are different grades. If I am going to lay some down, which one should I use?

    Thanks in advance.

Xtreme is always a solid choice

Thanks. 9 pieces (18" X 32") for 154.00 on Amazon prime. 2 of those would be enough to do every darn inch, I would think. Rear bulkhead, floor doors, and no open spots.

Any idea if some in the doors, aside from eating up a little road noise, will help with some of our little rattles? I've heard some people put some foam in there but I figured might as well use sound matting instead.

The Extreme is a excellent choice.
If you use a different brand, be sure it's made with butyl rubber and NOT an asphalt deadner.

I did my Viper last winter using the Extreme Dynamat. I put a small write up on here about it. http://driveviper.com/forums/threads...hlight=dynamat After driving it from Ohio to New Orleans, it was worth it. The cabin was definitely cooler. As far as road noise, not so much of a difference but it helped a little. A2008

I used the Noico brand. 80 mil thick vs 67 mil for Dynamat Xtreme. Also $64 for 36 sq ft vs $154* was a big plus Comes in black or silver backing.
36 sq ft is enough to cover all of the floor/trans tunnel/waterfall area in a vert. If you want to do your roof and/or doors and/or trunk in a coupe you'll need more.

*Disclaimer: I've never used the Dynamat, so there could be some secret sauce in their butyl compound that makes it more than twice as good?

Dynamat is too expensive. You can literally get the same exact stuff from Lowes or Home Depot. Its called "Peel n Seal".

Its just roofing tar paper. Dynamat, or fat mat, or whatever all the same stuff

Peel N Seal is about 15% the cost of the other stuff.

    This ^^^

I used this to soundproof my trunk area (after removing and reinstalling my stereo system), and the improvement was amazing. One roll did the trick and it cost ~ 14 bucks.

Isn't that asphalt based because it's for roofing?

Plan was doors to also help with squeaks and rattles. But may make a weekend of it and do the bulkhead and floors/tunnel as well.

The stuff is water proof and a sound deaden-er. I have yet to see a car that doesn't use this type of material for that same purpose.

I don't know if it is asphalt based? It doesn't smell terrible or anything. Very easy to work with. Its a little bit thinner than Dynamat and i like that because it is easier to apply and contour to grooves and tight spaces. You can also add multiple layers if you really want to.

I did my entire Avenger with the stuff. You can see it here as i was applying it.

P n S is rubberized asphalt based, I'd wonder what it odor it releases in hot climates.

I'd probably just use Noico. 80ml Butyl Rubber 36sqft for $60

No bad odors. It only smells for about 30 seconds when you remove the adhesive backing. Then its gone.

And I'm sure most will agree - this job while an easy one was a pain in the A$$. Still remember how sore my fingers and hands were after pressing and rolling it all in place.
