Kinda surprised we don t see any rumors of a Viper spinoff sale

Instead of just discontinuing the car, I'm surprised we're not seeing any rumors of a potential suitor out there. Remember back in 2009 - the rumors were rampant, and a deal was almost done.

Maybe things are different this time around. The car is a lot more complex, depends on a lot more FCA electronics, and is up against some very strict EPA guidelines.

But, it would be an interesting turn of events nonetheless. Maybe Tesla will buy it to even out their emissions to more closely match the rest of the industry

I think the airbag issues and the associated federal regulations will deter anyone from taking over the platform.

My guess is a Gen VI in 2-4 years unless the population continues to steeply decrease sportscar purchases.

Maybe a deal has already been done to sell off everything Viper to a key supplier in the execution process. Nothing would be done, until production ends in August, 2017 and all new Vipers are sold out of the dealership showrooms anyway. Makes no sense to announce anything now or beforehand which might delay that process I just mentioned. Logistically and reality, there is only one company, it could logically spin off to which any Viper owner would even find remotely acceptable and we all know who that is.

There are new regs on the books which allow that company to do some amazing things going forth and get around some of the issues mass production big boys must comply with.

Just can't see the car coming back in any acceptable form. Even if it is close, they are better off coming out with a new brand/model as no V-10, no manual, etc., it is just not a Viper. Everything comes to an end in life. It is just time. preserve what is out there and if a potential new owner can kick out a few "kit cars" based upon the past designs, great! At this point, it is just as good. I know, I lack a ray of sunshine today!

My guess is that FCA isnt selling it off. Keep the rights to the name so that they can bring it back down the road.

Reducing operating costs for something that isn't selling is one thing, but selling off the Viper name, quite frankly I think you can forget about that.

FCA isn't short on cash, they are just busy trying to make cars that sell ie Jeeps, Vans, and anything with a Hellcat engine lol! Not to mention global development of their Alfa and Fiat brand.

Not worth selling the Viper name for a few bucks after 25 years of history!

I am a firm believer the name will be back!
