    Reality Check

As I was driving back from Nashville yesterday, a black Aventador passed me (I was in my truck). As it went by, I immediately thought of my Viper. Admittedly, I can be a little biased with my car. I absolutely love it. The fact that it's a Viper, the color, and the exclusivity just gives me an incredible high. However, watching that Lambo go by quickly made me realize that it is in a completely different league.

Like I said, I truly appreciate what the Viper is. It's status, track reputation, and world class performance are notable attributes. But as I watched that Lambo drive by me yesterday, I fully understood that my Viper is no Lambo. Much respect to that incredible looking machine.

The Lambos are incredible performance cars but IMO It's hard to beat the styling of the Viper. The Lambo just looks like a door wedge. Can't say as I've ever lusted for one.

Respectfully disagree. I've never liked the Aventador, even if I could afford one, I wouldn't buy one. There's one that comes by our C&C once in a while. I'll take a Huracan though...

When they first came out, I wasn't fond of it either. But seeing it on the road definitely got my attention.

There are some beautiful cars out there. Fully understand what you mean! I like the cars I like and what I can see myself living with. As much as I love to look at the hyper exotics, and appreciate them for what they are, they are not me. The Viper fits me great and reflects the kind of person who I am.

If I did afford and wanted to own an exotic, it would be a used F430 Scuderia. Just something about that car that I absolutely love. A good friend of mine had one and let me drive it every now and then. Amazing machine.

Love what you love and drive what excites you. Just remember that you are viewing the Lambo in a separate league but out there is a young car enthusiast with a hoped up tasteful Civic who views your Viper with the same degree of separation. All about perspective.

Ron, no doubt about it, you have one of the sexiest Vipers always waiting at home for you. I've owned four Vipers, and I'll be a Viper fan for life. But I switched to an Audi R8/V10/6speed this year, and I'm here to say, it's incredible. I will have another Viper for sure, but I'm thoroughly enjoying the R8. There is no reason to compare the two cars because they are both incredible machines. As much as I love the R8, I truly miss the Vipers. Trust me, sometimes the grass in greener, or at least as green on the other side. Love my Audi, or the Volkswagen as Special Ed calls it.

The Aventador is far more exotic looking IMO. I'd own one already if they were available with a stick (and I had a winning lottery ticket).

I wouldn't be ashamed of wanting to own other vehicles. It just makes you a true gear head. I love the Aventador and will own a Lamborghini soon. I still have a love for the Viper for its raw character though and will at a Gen V to the stable as well.

I had a Gallardo and hated it, but man I'd love to try out the Huracan. From what I hear its better in every way.

I owned a Gallardo Spyder for 4 years and sold it before I picked up my Viper. It was a great car. I like the Gallardo/Murcielago Era much better than the Huracan/Aventador one. If the right lp570 came along I wouldn't mind getting back into the brand. Performante, Superleggera, Super Trofeo Stradale, those are the exciting variants for me for the baby bull. And the V12 beast are the super veloce and lp640 cars. A good example early gen murci would be epic in a gated 6 speed, but they are few and far between.

I have a twin turbo Gallardo Spyder and 2 twin turbo Vipers and the Lambo is AWESOME. It is so driveable. I went to home depot probably 10 times last week with the lambo, just getting stuff to work on the house. (small stuff). Fun and easy to drive. I take it anywhere. The Vipers are just beasts. Fun, but a different type of fun.

I have a Porsche Cayman S with PDK, sports chrono etc etc and a 2001 ACR. Both great sports cars but VERY different.
Like a scalpel and an axe, both can cut your arm off but in very different ways

I love my Viper in my short 6 month ownership, but if given the choice of my 14 GTS or an Aventador (with money NOT being an object) I'd take the Lambo ALL day long!

I have the same problem CapeVettes does, the Lambos always look like a wedge of cheese to me -- sounds more exotic than door wedge , right, ha?!
