Back in a Viper 17 GTC ACR E

It was probably inevitable since the release of the ACR that this would happen. I was at COTA when Viper Exchange brought out the GTS-R blue/white striped ACR-E. Then a few local guys started buying them, and my good friend Roncfp gave me the keys to his ACR-E at Daytona-Rolex in April. So within a month I had a deal with Viper Exchange and the order was placed just after the '17 ordering banks opened. My '15 Z06 left in late-June. Since I had no events planned until at least Oct/Nov as a result of two races in August (VIR) and September (Sebring), I had a nice window for the car to (hopefully) be built and shipped. The timing worked out perfect. In two weeks it'll be at Sebring, then again later in November with a few other Gen V ACR's, and am planning Daytona-Rolex in December and back to Sebring in January. It's GTS-R blue, painted wing, painted rear fascia, BM wheels, red stitching and belts, 18-speaker HK stereo and of course the "free" CCB's (which I hope I don't regret as a track guy).

The car was delivered to my home today, and I put 90 miles on it. Xsnake and I will likely put on the Extreme parts this weekend, then to MoparBoyy for alignment on Monday. Another oil change next week (I requested that VE change oil at 7 miles) and it's being clear bra'd November 2nd.

Big thanks to Courtney at Viper Exchange and their whole team for a smooth and clean deal. Also, props to Chuck at Sheridan Elite Car Transport. He left VE yesterday at ~1 pm and had the car here today at 1:30 pm.

This is my second Viper...my first was a '98 GTS built by UR with a 510" stroker, Paxton and 956 rwhp. It went 9's on pump gas after driving 100 miles to Bradenton.

Hmmmm..... seems the GTS-R blue is one of the few colors I prefer to have the color matched fascia(went with carbon on mine). You did a good job getting the color to pop in the pics too, hard to do.

This is a very tricky color. In the cloudy weather, it's sort of benign. It pops in the sun and under halogens and fluorescent lighting it looks like two different colors.
Because I do lot of track days, lighter colors were out of consideration. Dirt will trap under the edges of the clear bra and leave lines all over the car. So it had to be a darker color. It'll show dust but can live with that.
I'm real happy with the look of the painted wing and fascia.

Very nice!!! Looks great. Congratulations. Now you won't have to deal with the Corvette crazies (except in the rear view mirror), and you will have tons of fun on track.

Being a former Viper owner, I can say that I met some really great guys in the Corvette community. Every car community has its bad apples.
From firsthand experience, this thing is going to be a blast on-track. The configurable aero, the adjustable coilovers...it's going to be a lot of fun.

Great to see you over here, and looking forward to hearing about your experiences with that great looking ACR-E! These Gen V's are so special on the track...but you already know that! Enjoy

I remember you snorman on the corvette forums. Welcome back to the fun viper stuff. The corvettes are boring compared to this.

Very nice, everytime I look at pictures of the Gen V ACR that rear wing seems to get Bigger and BIGGER!

As we say in England, "you can't beat a large Tea tray on the back of the car"

    Enjoy your ride

Would be cool, Steve. I finally got up there in August (but for a race, not my personal car) and the entire facility is just awesome. Planning on being back in August again in '17, but will be looking for DE days there too.
We had a trackside villa so...1.) finish stint, 2.) take golf cart to villa, 3.) shower and change into shorts and t-shirt, 4.) sit on back deck with a beer and watch race

    Looks great, CONGRATS!!
I hope we can track together soon. I'm sure I'll be following(chasing) you and the others initially but I catch on pretty quickly.

    Beautiful car and set up!
