I agree that they would be desirable but certainly not a deal breaker. Dated side windows are usually with the car; black valise are readily available. I have both available for sale to any '92 owner.

Chassis no C45 GTS-R (race car) just sold at auction in italy for €246.476, there were no fia papers with the car so it could not be entered in any historic racing. That's some price, imagine what an Oreca car would go for!
There's a Broker in Italy selling a GT2 gtsr here. 100K + Commision

We are planning to invest in a few of these cars. The prices are perfect right now. Knowing the car culture craze. I think the baby boomers who where coming of age when these cars came out will pay a premium in a few years.
I do think these Gen 1 cars will be like the Cobra's in the future.
My 2 cents.
Seems like both of you didn't read carefully. I said cosmetic variations added. The Yenko was not a cosmetic added Camaro. It was a camaro with a sipped in 427 motor. That is not a cosmetic addition. The 427 Yenko was a big hit because it was not factory installed until Don Yenko convinced the corporate big shot buddies of his to install them for him through the factory. Thus why they are so sought after.
Slither ,
Just trying to set the record straight as the car almost did not get built , but Mr. Winkles and many others accepted the challenge and viola. Dynamics of different airflows and suspension settings determined by a Coupe , meant a complete review and tests to make sure everything transferred over. Wing was too big from the ACR Coupe, Aero group wing was too small and hence changes were done to that area. The suspension proved not to be an issue and after an initial denial the car went forward ......
Short version , but you get the drift. The Passion of the SRT Engineers , over the years, is hard to deny and a revelation of their love for the car - especially since the budget for many items was barely more than a 12 year old's allowance.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge Bill !
Sounds similar to the Ramcharger stories.
I have seen low mileage 92's going for mid 30's currently. Understand that the 92 has very few parts in common with the 93 and later cars. Its very unique and can be harder to repair than the later cars.
Do we know who has the actual Gen4 Nurburgring record breaking ACR's ?

A 92 will always be the one that started it all. A crazy experiment done by engineers with nads as big as their brains. So I see it being desireable for that reason.

Viper exchange donated the cars didn't they? I would have figured Bernie would hold on to them.
One of those Gen 4 Ring ACRs is in Europe with all the signatures on the rear wing.
And the owner /driver of that car does not hang about!!!
It's a long story but I will guarantee you that those are decals of the signatures on the wing not actual signatures. I owned one of the four (or five?) black and silver record setting ACR copies and a year or two after the 'Ring run I was approached by Tomball asking if I was interested in having my car upgraded to a "commemorative" version. That included the wing signature decal, new seats and other doo-dads. I didn't do it as it was expensive for some badging and the car had to be shipped to Prefix. But I know some of the other owners did.
The original hand signed car was auctioned off I believe.

Guess I need to ship my Gen2 ACR to Europe then!_DSC0835.jpg
If you had a $2.00 Bic pen you could have sold it for $350.00 at that Auction, the bidding was Nuts!
My Gen2 GTS is for sale ....buy now before someone on a website says it's worth 10x as much
Collectible is relative. Some people call McDonalds toys and Beanie Babies collectible. I'm not sure collectible is the best term, but someone is certainly capable of collecting Vipers. That Texas couple collects them already.
I think most people think of appreciation in value when they talk about collectible.
I think some Vipers will appreciate. I think that is based on desirability relative to availability. It is not dependent on low production numbers in my opinion, especially when it is something arbitrary like convertibles of a given year unless that year is already desirable... then someone who wants that year might just want that year as a convertible. The low numbers doesn't make it desirable alone unless it is something that is already collectible. People tend to collect coins and stamps though, not Vipers... most people don't need one of every option Viper ever produced.
Appreciation isn't the best concern for most buyers. You are better off with a real investment.
On the other hand, if you enjoy having a garage queen and like keeping it pristine, cool. It will probably be one of the more desirable specimens, but don't be surprised if you never retire on it.
I like garage queens because that is how I appreciate the cars, not because I want to sell it.
The ones I like the best and think will be collectible:
Gen II GTS-R
1996 B/W GTS
2002 GTS final edition
Gen IV ACRs
Gen V GTC ACR Red with white GTS stripes (because mine is about to be deliver. Thanks Bill and Woodhouse)
