The Dodge Viper ACR is a quot Terribrilliant Stupid Thing quot

    Cool article on yahoo!

    http://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars...cr-carfection/

Going fast with most sports cars is a bit like picking a lock. You're constantly trying to hit the sweet spot without braking your tool, and if you're lucky, you get there in the end. With the Viper though, it's more like throwing a brick through the window, and casually stepping across the debris to get the same result.

Fiat Chrysler is killing the Viper, simply because it doesn't make any financial sense. As we prepare for its swan song, we can argue all day long about how it's too expensive (to make), or how it should have an automatic and an open top variant as well. The Corvette offering similar performance for a lot less money certainly didn't help the Viper's case either. At the same time, let's not forget that with the ACR, Dodge managed to create something easily as fast as a 911 GT3 RS. Not bad for a Dodge.

The Viper ACR has aero that works at all speeds, and in capable hands, it's one of the most rewarding cars on the planet. The Lexus LFA's V10 might be the best production V10 ever made (sorry Porsche!), but the Viper's 8.4 liter, 645 hp and 600 lb-ft unit is the one you'd expect to start even after a nuclear shock wave has passed and all the LFAs have melted.

Basically, the ACR is the G500 4x4² of track cars, and as such, is perfect.

    Just as cool maybe

In the words of Chris Harris, "911 GT3RS? You can just forget about it!" haha

crop the viper out and still would have been able to tell you what he was driving, the look on his face and the prefuse sweating says it all

In a straight line I'm sure the GT3 RS is faster but not on a circuit track. Not even close. Journalist needs to look at track times.

I've driven a 991RS. I highly doubt it's as fast as the Viper in a straight line. Awesome car nonetheless.
