Thinking about picking up a Gen 4 Vert

What up guys? Currently own a 2014 Orange TA. Really love the car but missing having a convertible/targa at times. Do any of you own both a gen 5 and 4? I was thinking of picking up a gen 4 Vert to cruise around the beach. I have my first born coming mid next year so want to have some fun with another car for a bit. I typically don't keep cars longer than 1-2 years as I like trying new things. Thanks in advance for the feedback!

I never was a Vert fan until I got a viper vert, Now I cant imagine why I would go to a coupe in the summer lol , Winter I could see a coupe , plus the turbos sound so good in a vert

You're confusing me... Didn't you just inquire about buying a GTR because your two-seater is going to be a struggle in your near future? And now you want two two-seaters???

I looked into GTR. Not gonna work and I don't really want drive fast with a small kid in the back. Plus I just don't love the car after driving a few. I drove in my buddies Vette which is a Vert and realized how much I missed the open cockpit experience. Trying to swing keeping the TA and picking up a Vert if I like it. Will likely not be able to keep both long term but really just don't know since this is my first born and no clue what to expect time wise. I already have a SUV as a daily. I'm OCD when it comes to cars

Lol - The 2004 G I drove didn't do it for me but still need to try the Vert and a 2006+. Only way a G would work is if I sell the TA

Not sure lost is the right word...just bored

He is a very confused young man that can not decide what he wants. (Don't take this seriously Zee).

Ha! Life is short. Just trying to experiment with as many cars as I can. One day I hope to have a large garage of my favorites

Loved my Viper Vert! That said what temps would you be mostly driving in as even with the crossover exhaust remedied via Corsa aftermarket the cars can be very hot. Sub 75 degrees if it was bright and sunny or I felt like I would melt. Car was black/black vert.

Interesting...I had a gen 2 rt/10 for a few years and it did get hot, but not too bad. Is the gen 4 worse? I'd be driving mostly in the 70-80s

The crossover is a gen 3 problem. Gen 4's don't suffer from this issue.

Try Dynamat on the floors/footwells, keeps a lot of the heat out and some of the noise. Wife says it is night and day different from before. She can actually kick her shoes off and not have them roast on the carpet. I ended up doing the entire interior, including the complete inside of the doors. I live with the top down and if the sun's heat gets too unbearable, I turn the air on We crossed Death Valley from Vegas to Bakersfield, top down all the way. Get a vert, see and be seen!

I was gonna do the doors. I thought it would help with some rattles too. Does our carpet just lift out for installing the dynamat? I would think you have to pull the seats first.

OP, why not targa that TA? Best of both worlds.

That sucks. I liked that option. Not that I have a gen V to do it in but still.

Don't think I can targa a TA even if I could. That just seems wrong given what the car was built for!

I was gonna say the same thing but I didn't realize prefix stopped making them until now. As quickly as Zee changes cars it would probably hit on a TA's resale value. I used the targa all the time on my previous Supra. I even got caught in a heavy down pour once on the highway and didn't even get a drop of water on me since the wind deflects it all away when you're at cruise speeds.

Vprbite - carpet just lifts out after seats, center console, trim and rear waterfall have been removed. On passenger side, amp under seat needs to come out. Doors are a huge PITA to do. I think I added 50 to 80lbs in Dynamat!

I'm not worried about the slight decrease in drag times. It just might make the car more enjoyable. Besides I could always compensate by modding the driver to shave 30lbs. Lol.

FWIW I love My 2010 Viper Vert and have no desire to go GenV Not that I don't love them, but the top down sensation is a big part of the experience IMHO Good Luck on whatever you decide to get!
