That thing is sweet! I don't know if it's $200K sweet but still an awesome car. I've never even heard of these. I wonder why only 2 out of the 50 built were in this color.

Lot #398 - This is #2 of 50 Hurst 50th Anniversary Limited Series Viper coupes and convertibles produced. It was only available in white or black with gold stripes, except the first two Hurst Vipers produced - one coupe and one convertible, which were both painted flat gold with black stripes. This car is the second Hurst-edition Viper built and the first convertible produced. Hurst has been known for performance automotive parts since 1958, and in 2008 they chose to celebrate their golden anniversary with a special-edition Hurst Viper. Goodies include a Corsa exhaust, special polished wheels, Motion Club Sport adjustable coilovers and Eibach springs. It naturally features a Hurst pistol-grip shifter. The Hurst logo has been embroidered into the leather seats. It features an 8.4-liter 10-cylinder engine with a 6-speed manual transmission. 146 actual miles. From the Tammy Allen Collection.

Tammy Allen has one hell of a collection. I think she was going to open a museum. She has purchased cars from my friend's hot rod shop down here in Tucson. Most notably, The Wasabi Merc Coupe they built she snagged for 330k at BarrJack. She seems to like vipers though cause she scoops them up at auction. Good for her that she made some nice coin on this one. Anyone know what sticker was on these?

Probably dating myself but back in the day Hurst and Oldsmobile had a relationship with one another,Linda Vaughn was Miss Hurst for years,I think she had a role in Gumball Rally at the very end of the movie.This is the first I`ve ever heard of a Hurst Viper but I think it was pretty good, especially if it brought 220. at auction.Hurst was also responsible for the baddest Dodge Darts and Plymouth Barracudas in 1968 with the 426 hemi`s,they run ss/aa and ss/a class a lot,also very valuable cars,only 50 to 100 cars were produced.

I remember the Hurst Olds Cutlass back in the late 1960s/70s. They were very limited and came in either White/Gold or Black/Gold I think. Very cool collectible cars...

Mr Pemberton can enlighten everyone on his insider knowledge. From what I remember they had a so-so reception and I don't think anywhere near 50 were built.

Question in regards to the paint scheme... Hurst seems always seemed to have a liking to gold. This paint scheme was obviously also iconic on the GT350H Mustang representing Hertz. Did the Hertz cars have this similar paint scheme due to Hurts components or is it just a coincidence?

There are a few out there, I know of a Black/Gold vert and a White/Gold coupe and a White/Gold aero version. only 2 were in the flat gold.

Not to change the subject,

there will be 5 Vipers at the Mecum Dallas event in November. Only "special" one I saw is a less than 1000 mile VOI 9 car. Looks to be the same one that has been making the auction circuit over the past couple of years.

Tammy Allen collection of cars for sale because of the following pulled from a newspaper article. Too bad.

"Tammy Allen said Tuesday she made the decision to close Allen Unique Autos and liquidate its world-class collection of cars because business managers recommended it, but also because her passion for the work evaporated since her 36-year-old son, Landon, died in June."

That's very unfortunate. She was good for the viper community and also cars in general and I can only imagine what it is like for a parent to lose their child. I'm sure there is nothing that makes it easier though.

Looks like there may have been only 4 built. The first flat gold coupe was auctioned, and a black vert with gold was for sale as salvage in NJ. see below:

Idea was conceived at a small café in Blair , Nebraska, and the car is correctly a Hurst/Woodhouse Edition as the idea to do the Viper was entirely ours! We had already been doing the Hurst Challengers with them and we proposed the idea to them, and the first one built was first sent here to have us do all the upgrades , then sent to Irvine for paint and finish - the next three went through the same process. The second car ( convertible) we sold to Tammy after she won the bid for the First Car ( a Coupe), as I thought it would be cool for one person to own both of the matte gold machines. Two more Hurst/Woodhouse Editions were built ( the other convertible Bruce and SL brought up was never part of the true lineage,and things are missing on it ). It was also badly wrecked , whereas the four originals have all been in collections. The White with Gold Stripe One is on the East Coast and the Black and Gold one is down in Texas with another woman who likes to collect Vipers, ha. The first car was auctioned off at Barrett Jackson and brought the highest bid for a Viper at that time , with the funds going to the Victory Junction Camp for kids.
