    Base GTC interior

    Hi,

I'm looking at the 1 of 1 site, and I'm confused as to what the base interior is on a GTC.

    Interior.jpg

    1. With no interior packages selected, it looks like there is Alcantara on the bottom half of the dash...can anyone confirm?

    2. There is a mesh map pocket at the driver's right elbow...I have seen a picture somewhere where this was not mesh but some sort of glovebox. Which packages include that, and is there any way to add it later?

    InteriorMeshMapPocket.jpg

    3. It seems that every interior package says something about " Leather Instrument Panel with Accent Stitching"....but the pictures of the base interior look like stitched leather to me. Is it vinyl? Cheaper leather? Black stitching?

I really wish they would have some place that thoroughly describes every bit of what these expensive interior options include. The marketing terms like "Laguna" do not persuade me to check a $6,000 to $8,000 checkbox.

    Thanks in advance.

    I think I figured out #2.

You need to select a GTS interior package, then select "Sabelt Premium" under the 'Trim' options.

The verbage for the Sabelt seats is the same for the Anodized and Ceramic interior packages, so I'd assume the glove box is in them, but the website errors out when I try to pick them. Ugh.

The interior looks like leather I believe it's all high quality vinyl with sticking if that can even be said in a sentence together, however the seats are leather and it has the cargo net on the FTC, the gts has all leather and a seuade head liner and the glove box instead of the net , all cars after 2014 have suede on lower portion of the dash.

    1. The Alcantara on the bottom of the dash and the door (and anywhere else I haven't yet noticed) was added as a standard item after the 2015 mid-cycle refresh.

    2. Seems like the elbow glovebox covered in leather was something the GTS came with as standard. On the GTC you would have to get the GTS interior package. Quick search on parts and it looks like it has a $1500-2000 price tag LOL I am assuming the regular mesh version is the 600 dollar item and the rest are various part numbers for different leather colours and types.

    3. All base vipers include a black leather dash with white accent stitching. If you want to go all out, on the opposite side of the price spectrum is finer "laguna" leather which is part of the GTS Laguna Interior package. The laguna leather goes on everything in the car. The package in between would be the GTS interior package which would throw the laguna leather on the seats and I think it carries over the dash leather of the base viper to other areas including the brake handle, doors, under dash areas (floor console), and on the glove box you wanted. Could also just do finer leather seats with the Nappa leather seat upgrade.

    Thanks!

Can you tell it's vinyl? Is there that much of a difference?

That's some serious cash for the box, I think I can live with the mesh at that price!

Are you certain the base dash is leather and not vinyl? Someone else posted that it was vinyl.

"under dash areas (floor console)" So the GTS interior changes the floor console from vinyl to leather? Does it eliminate the alcantara on the bottom half of the dash? Edit: It looks like the GTC interior eliminates the alcantara bottom half of the base dash.

The driveSRT website is still up and describes the interior as,

"Race-inspired, high-performance, driver-oriented interiors feature superior craftsmanship, premium materials and performance-oriented technologies. The interior dash panel on every Viper is hand-wrapped in fine leather while the standard high-performance racing seats from Sabelt feature a lightweight shell for mass reduction and long-term durability."

So we can take it for what it is!

Yup, GTS replaced base vinyl with leather in the past and now replaces the base alcantara.

I have a GTC with the Napa Leather upgrade option and love it! The seats and dash are all leather and the Alcantara is under the steering wheel and passenger glove box and the door inserts. Also has the mesh storage between the seats. I didn't know exactly what I was getting since I ordered it at the beginning of the GTC program but I couldn't be happier.

I want to buy the alcantara headliner for sure or have it redone myself. Would have loved that on my car. The carbon interior is the real winner tho! Wanted that really bad.

Once you have driven, or possibly even just sat in a GTS or GTS interior equipped GTC, most folks will understand the the price premium. The interior on a '15 GT I was looking at is closer in quality to that of my previous gen4, than to that of the '13 GTS I own now.

Other people who have sat in my car have commented that the laguna leather in my GTS is like a Ferrari or other Italian exotic. I didn't buy the car new, but I'm really glad I have the laguna interior. Highly recommend it, even at premium price. I could take or leave the glove box between the seats. It's not easy to access. The suede headliner is great.

How will this make me go faster?

Did you seriously just equate the non laguna interior to the Gen 4 interior? ROFL

BTW, does anyone have a picture of the ceramic blue interior package?

The website doesn't show it too well....

Add to that all of the web news articles announcing the ceramic blue edition...with pictures of competition blue...

  18. #18
    Success!

You have to pick the "Ceramic Blue Sport Package" first, then the "Ceramic Blue Interior Package":

Interestingly enough, this actually gets you some of the CF interior pieces, but they still leave half the interior in the standard/base silver (AC vents, grab handle).

I just bought a GTS with the Laguna leather and alcantra headliner. I have been in am SRT. There is no comparing the two leathers. The SRT leather is really low grade or vinyl. The Laguna is so soft and beautiful.
It's worth the extra money if your going to keep the car a long time and street drive it. Will it make you faster? No prob not, but neither will the SRT interior.

Thanks for the review / comparison. Which year SRT was it? I believe the 13-14's had the vinyl?

My post is accurate for the OP. To be very clear: The used GT's interior I looked at "is closer in quality to that of my previous gen4" (stock VOI10 edition) than to that of the '13 GTS I own now."

The first gen5 I drove was a loaded black GTS - awesome car. When a used GT became available at the right price with the right equipment, I arranged to purchase it thinking that the GT's interior wouldn't be a deal breaker. Sorry, it was a major disappointment in comparison but at least made the gen5 search much easier going forward ...

Likewise, and the reason I now own a gen5 vs. still looking.

Man, the lack of consensus on this topic is entertaining. But I admit I don't know the difference either. Seems to my eyes the dash on my 15 SRT is real leather...... the center console material, I'd guess not? Idunno. I do like the alcantara dash lowers, but they're in a bad place to get hit by my shoes entering and exiting the car.

It's funny hearing opinions from different people on the leather quality. I've had people assume the real leather in my Lamborghini was cheap feeling compared to that fabric bonded bullshit they have in their Escalade. Hahaha .

One thing to keep in mind, real, nice leather will stretch with use. That's why some GTS seats look wavy on the bottom. Just the nature of the beast.

One real consideration for the seats is that the Napa leather GTS are quite a bit smaller than the SRT seats, a real concern if you're on the larger side of average. Especially on the upper back, below your arm pit's. Not sure why, as theyre supposedly based on the same seat frames, but the difference is significant.

And I agree, any comparison between an SRT interior and any Gen 3 or 4 interior is laughable. Sorry!

Just to put it in context, I'm looking at a Viper to be a daily driver, approx 2 hours a day, 15k miles a year minimum, not counting road trips.

My current DD is a Lotus Exige S240, which is anything but plush.

That being said, I'd assume the Laguna leather (and even the Sabelt seats) are an upgrade from the base...but are they really $13-$14k better?

I had originally thought of just getting the base interior and buying someone's alcantara ACR seats and bolting them in.

To add: I don't care about originality / collectability, for $13k I'd imagine I could get some pretty incredible custom seats done at an upholstery shop. Just a thought.
