GoPro Hero 5... anyone used one at the track yet?

Interested to know what (if any) improvements users have observed, mainly with respect to audio quality and battery life. Also curious about image stabilization effectiveness and WiFi remote operation.

Please post up with your reviews and videos!

    Thanks in advance,

...uhhhh, maybe I'll back this up one version. Anyone using the Hero 4 Black (or Silver)? Most interested in exterior mounted results, perhaps with an external microphone...

Yes I have used the 4 silver. The attached vid was done mounted to the roof just above the windshield using the suction cup mount. I di another one with it mounted on the bulkhead between the seats, but the glare off the windshield was very bad at the time of day I used it. https://youtu.be/sRAEO1juhP0

Thanks for sharing! That vid is similar to my own (using an old Hero 2): Awesome video, disappointing audio. You'd think that noise reduction should be an easier fix, given the frequency and constancy of wind noise. I wonder if the Hero 5 is any better...

Interested in this also. I have the hero 2 as well and the audio is definitely not matched to the quality of the sound. I think you can plug in an external mic somehow though...

OK, taking this into my own hands. Bought a Hero 5 and I'll take it to Bondurant with me next week to see how it does...

Awesome let me know! I'm about to do the same but there are no Gimbal options yet for the hero 5. I want to start getting coverage on all my adventures and mods.

I see them selling on eBay for more money than you can pick one up at bestbuy for $399

I have 2 older GoPros but I like this cheapy dash cam I got off of a pop-up ad on the internet for $19.95 best.
Here is a comparison of both on the same autocross runs in my 1972 Datsun 1200, in the go pro shot you can see the dash cam mounted in the center of the windshield.

I snagged a Hero 5 as well just now and will report back.

I have 3 different ones now for multiple shots/angles.

    GoPro Hero - 1080p version
    GoPro Hero 5 - 4k

Also just picked up one of these knockoff gopro with really high reviews. 4k @ 25fps. I grabbed it so that I can get high quality shots on the outside with the suction cup attachment. If it falls off the car its not a huge loss vs over $500 bouncing down the pavement with HERO5 once you factor in a 128gb card and all the tax nonsense.
