Gen V option questions

It looks like ordering a new Viper might not work for me timing-wise, so I've started thinking about what I'd target in a non-new Gen V and what options I could add after the fact.

1. Can anyone confirm that the CF interior is not possible to add after the fact? Does anyone with the base silver plastic bits feel like they're cheap? The plastic on the interior of my C6 vette felt cheap to me, so I'm a bit gun shy.

2. CF rear appliqué: is it available aftermarket? Anyone know the cost? How hard is it to install?

3. Seats: Some of the cars I'm looking at are TA's with cloth seats. Some are leather. At this point I've ruled out the ACR, so no alcantara for me. How does the leather wear on the seats? Is there a difference in leather quality between sepia, Laguna and nappa? I wonder if just recovering the seats in alcantara would be better in the long run. Any idea what that might cost?

4. CF rear brake duct: available aftermarket? Cost? Effort to install?

5. TA-style lip spoiler: available aftermarket? Cost? Effort to install?

Carbon fiber interior pieces are only just starting to proliferate for the Gen V. All exterior pieces you want are available. Search Xtreme Supercars on here to get a baseline on pricing. They're available through Dodge too. Installation of the applique isn't terrible, but requires commitment. The brake ducts are straight forward but require interior trim removal. The factory spoiler goes on with urethane, and the XS one goes on with 3m tape. Measure 3 times. Mark out with painters tape. Place once. Extra hands would help.

Real leather tends to stretch more than the fabric bonded stuff they call leather in most cars, so expect that, but color and wear seem excellent.

1. interior carbon pieces are very expensive if you want to piece the kit together yourself. A single seat insert is like $800-900. So your looking at 6-7K for the full set. Some pieces of the set are not even sold separately. If you want CF, get a car with it. As for the silver trim, 95%+ of vipers have the standard silver trim. Though I love the CF, there is nothing wrong with the base trim.

+1 on the base trim..... it really isn't that bad..... I don't have any carbon fiber interior and I don't feel it is something that I have to have, or feel it would make a significant difference in enjoying the car. Steering wheel is way better than the C6 Corvettes, both in design and feel.

The base silver trim is not horrible but the CF interior is one of the few things I wish my car had that it does not.

The leather seats in my car do not show any wear and seems to be holding up great with almost 17k miles on my car.

Prior to buying my ACR I looked at used GTS with and without the CF interior/exterior trim packages. I personally would not consider a car without the CF trim packages, especially the interior package. It makes a very big difference in the overall richness of the car, and is way too expensive to do after the fact. The cloth seats however are great, and I'd have no problem owning those. My recommendation is to be patient and buy exactly what you want right up front. It will save you money in the long run.

There is a good chance that the amount of money and effort you will invest into retrofitting all the missing options into a used Gen V will be more than you would invest into getting a new one. Money is still incredibly cheap these days, so maybe it's worth reconsidering. Several people posted here that there are still new unsold 2016 and 2015 cars out there, with good deals to be had.

Would have to agree with ek1. Whether you like the carbon fiber packages or not, it is all completely personal taste and probably around 50% decide to get one of the packages with carbon fiber. You could get a Carbon Fiber Aerodynamic kit with a GTC and still keep a new car under 110K depending on other options. Feel free to give me a call if I can walk you through your options?

I ordered mine with the CF interior. It was the cheapest CF option to get from the factory and the most expensive to add after the fact. IIRC it's something like 17+ different pieces. Worth the option price IMO.
