I haven't made a post here with photos in a while so I felt like I was due!
(Bryan invited me to join the PA/WV VOA on a epic 200 mile cruise to take lots of pictures, eat pizza and rate Chris' awesome sock collection. So I met up with Eugene, hopped in his ACR and off we went.)
To start with, I've got to say this was by far the greatest cruise I've ever been on, period. The weather was absolutely perfect, clear skies and not a drop of rain. Pennsylvania roads weren't to bad either! A lot smoother, twisty and more fun than the roads back home and this totally made up for missing out on Tail of the Dragon on the way back from New Orleans.
Our day started super early as we headed to meet up with Mike and Mike Jr before heading off to the meet spot at the Williamsport Cars and Coffee. All together 9 Vipers attended the cruise. Red was the prominent color here, as 5 out of the 9 cars (if you include Venom Red) were Red. One 96 B/W GTS, One Steel Grey GTS, One Orange TA, and a 1-of-1 GTS-R Blue ACR made up the group.
The route was perfect, with sweet elevation changes, left and rights that put the tires to work. I started of the cruise riding with Eugene in his ACR. Vipers always seem to handle around corners effortlessly and the horsepower just seems to go on and on to infinity. The ACR, with it's high downforce and grippy Kumho's puts Vipers on a completely different planet. Everything is just there and it rewards the driver every time without missing a beat. Darren's Steel Grey GTS has been updated with a fresh set of Forgestar wheels and they look awesome.
After the first leg of the cruise we took a breather at our first stop and parked the cars for a group shot. We stretched our legs a bit and discussed how awesome it was so far, then it was time to head back out on the road! If you look closely, Bryan's TA was fitted with a 360 camera, so I'm sure he'll post those up shortly. I wanted to get a sense of what it was like to go back-to-back from a Gen V ACR to a Gen II ACR, so I jumped into Chris' car and right away I noticed the seats are more cushier and the window area lengthwise seemed a bit shorter. If you must know, Yes, I did forget which side the seat belt was on. Whoops.
Of course being in Pennsylvania means that your bound to run into an Amish buggy every once and while. Perfect time for a good photo-op!
Stop number two was for lunch and Bryan picked a great little pizza place along the way. When we got there they already had several pizzas ready and waiting for us, which was nice! After our lunch stop it was time to fill up and head out for the second half of the cruise which was full of long elevation changes. My favorite part of it all! I rode with Bryan in his TA, I figured I'd already spent a little over 3300 miles in it after going to NVE2, so why not more?
We made one last break during the cruise in a small town. Buck and Patty lead the group up to the Hyner State Park in Hyner, PA. The whole group traveled up a 'One and a half' lane road to the peak where we had breathtaking views of the area.
After taking in the sights high above, we made our way back down and headed to dinner at Pier 87 back in Williamsport. It was an awesome day of driving through the mountains of Pennsylvania. Literally could not have had a better day with the weather we had!
